Installing Fuel pressure Gauge?

bought a comp to replace my EZ & sold the EZ before I had a chance to install the comp ,so had to drive around without that little helper, what a difference a little box makes,I must say though the engine is a bit quieter. Any way, coming down an offramp & take the overdrive off & the check engine light comes on ,check all the gauges everything is normal, pull over & stop cycle the key & get that generic p1693 code which after looking it up says the truck set a dtc in the pcm or ecm. Dont really want to take it to the dealer as my gut feeling is that everything is ok & because my vb is setup for the ez & other mods & that one of the control modules saw a engine change it wasnt used to after a component was taken out of the equation. just my theory though & I,m pretty certain that would not have tripped if I had installed the comp right away. Was wandering if anyone has tripped this code & driven around with it unchecked for while . Kinda hesitant to install the comp now. but also do not want to take it in to the squealer. Sorry for the long post.

Well what I gather from reading your post is, you took out the EZ but you left your wastegate disabled which will let you go over 20psi of boost and setting an overboost code now that you don't have the EZ's boost fooler plugged in.

You do not need to go to the dealer to get it erased. Once you hook up your new Comp box the truck will stop setting overboost codes and the overboost code will evetually clear itself.

Mike ,thanks for your reply ,you know I think you hit the nail on the head ,as do have Piers HX35 & also have the boost elbow on there as well. Although it did take a day to trip it & it did come on as I was decelerating. Does the cel come on the moment a code is set?

I do have a leaking transfer case seal so I should take it in for that,so it prolly would be a good time to take it in before I tap in to the fuel wire as I understand their computers are able to detect over fueling. Ishould also put a stock elbow on the turbo whilst i,m at it. Anyone know where I can get one ,Home Depot maybe? Thanks again Mike that overboost code makes total sense to me.

My truck has 5k miles and no engine mods (no boxes, no disabled wastegate, etc) and I tripped this code 2 times already. Both times occurred when I cranked and she wouldn't fire up :( The 1st time this happened it scared me as repeated cranking still wouldn't start the engine. I then performed the code pull to see what was going on. Once I pulled P1693, the "check engine" light remained on but the ISB fired-up. When I tried the code pull a second time to see if another code was tripped, the check light went off. The 2nd instance was a carbon copy of the 1st.
