OK Ive dreamed of this for some time now ... . I want to create a truck pulling video game ... with all the upgrades and everything ... . my thoughts are that you'd start out as a broke farmer with a old 1st gen and pull/race your way to the top while buying new trucks and bhaf and fass's ,edges hot box and all that with an in game dyno so you can test and tune also a drag strip for gearing and stuff you could end up in a pro pulling circut and compete againts other trucks ... . you could also start out in stock gasser class and build your truck as you go and win enough money to buy a cheater stock truck and over and over till your one of the big boys of course you have a paint shop where you can customize your pulling team and truck name/logos along with sponcers . dont forget all diffrent tires and sizes will be avalible along with weights and propane, nos ,meth and so on... . A great part would be fully on line compatable where you can build you truck up and pull it against others on track editor created arenas from all over the world. also add all the drag racing stuff and upgrades for a truck drag racing fans dream game now its only 1 game as new years turn YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO BUY THE NEW VERSION all you'll do is get an expansion pack with the new models of trucks and the new upgrades that have came out in the past year ... the game would always be up to date ... I'd like to get jegs or something in on it to help.....

Am I nuts or would you guys buy this???

Any suggestions

The closest thing out now is ---4x4 EVO 2--- or a classic--- test drive offroad wide open--- its a great game you even get the dodge T-REX!!!! and it is the baddest vehical on the game !!

anybody know of any PC games that have the cummins in it or at least the fulsize 4x4's

hell yea i would buy it i know alot of people who would too, racing ricers and killing people in WWII games gets old after a while, grand turismo is alot like you describe but with wimpy ricers, you are on the right track, good luck!

heck yeah I'd buy it!! :-laf

Start off as "Got Smoke?" the broke college kid wanting to get into truck pulling :-laf ..... and end up as "Kent Crowder" with the most BAD@$$ pulling truck around!! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I'll Take One

Cool  I will take one!!!! I hope it comes on a Friday night, So I can play it after Little Moose Goes to bed Oo. Otherwise I won't be able to get near it. Way to cool! :-laf

There could be a part where you race F&F cars, guys who think they have hot Mustangs etc. You get points for how far their jaws drop when you leave them in your soot. Cool idea!

great idea! maybe you could try to get one or more of the sponsors on this site to sponsor it's creation/distribution etc. ? :-laf Oo.

i'd buy it too!!! :D

Just Testing The Water Right Now!!

I emailed ,,,SCEA,NIN,XBOX,321,rockstar and others heres a qoute from a developer... ... ... ... .

Dear Chad,

I have received your message, thank you. I'd like to better understand the idea of it. Do you want us to help you to create a game? If yes, than you found the right team and you have a great idea.

We are very enthusiastic about new creative game development projects and are ready to start working with you.

What do you need to start? Iitially we'd like do have a full description of your game ideas to make a game concept doc. After you approve the concept, we make a game design doc and the estimate. Then, after the estimate is approved, we start the development.

Like I said Im just testing the water too see what it takes to do it I have a note pad running with ideas for the game I think the most important will be the online mode because it'll be almost the only game on line where connection speed is not a direct deciding factor on who wins.

I have also submited a premission discloser from my company so I can build on my idea with out any corperate interfearing. or taking over.

If its going to be big bucks I may turn the idea over to a company but will state that the final words on gameplay is approved by US. I think It will sell like hot cakes ... . but Im not willing to sell everything and move to the silican valley :)

ONline stores such as DPP and things like that may not be asked for the nod...

the people you want for help / sponsership with in game products would be the ones to contact,,,,goodyear,,,holset,,,,super b,,,,,k&n,,,,,AFE ,,,,ATS,,,DTT,,,EDGE,,,,SCOTTY this type of help is what well need

just imangine it your a big DTT trany guy and you meet a mean ol' ATS trany guy ... . you both have matching models of your trucks on the game you make the challenge and then drop chains if you want ... ... notice that would be the coolest thing in the word!!!!!!!!!!!! but only if sunificant work went in to testing for real life results and who would really win... ...

Those people who keep adding upgrades and dont beaf up the trany when they pull and tare the trany out and dont have enough to pay entry for the next pull after fixing the trany----------- GAME OVER------------continue????

How about a cheat code for unlimited $$$$

you could have it all

game modes... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

drop chains

drag

transfer sled

tug sled

circle jerk ---not bad thats what its called its 3 trucks chained to a big ring

carear mode

online mode

body shop

performance outlet

tire shop

weight center

DYNO ROOM

free roam on a wide open area ,,,desert,,,mountain ,,,you name it

you can pick trany also... ... ... . the fuel and clutch will be realistic at launch

and watch out if you hit the PROPANE in too low of a gear

I can go on and on... ... ... ... ... ... . imagine the possibilltys

MAYBE TDR IS INTERESTED at this point I rally dont care if I get rich or anything I just want to play it!!!!!!

DieselMinded,

I applaud your enthusiasm. I have been managing a team of software developers for many years and had people working for me that use to work as game developers. I can tell you that with game development it all comes down to demand... Will there be enough people out there that would be interested? You would be surprised at the number of games that are turned out that do not actually make a profit for the company that released them. There is a VERY big cost associated with the development of the code, QA process and testing not to mention the marketing research that will need to be done ahead of time to validate this is a concept that can generate revenues. Remember, this is all about cash!! Just a couple of thoughts...

1. I think it would be very difficult to differentiate between gas and diesel power in a game and you will end up with a more generic pulling / drag game not as detailed as you have described.

2. Upgrades may be very difficult. I do not know if there is a game out there now that does this but it maybe tough.

3. Although to us truck pulling is very exciting remember that it is a 10 second ride going straight down a track of dirt and may not drive as much excitment in a game format then in the real world. You cannot smell, hear and feel the power of a game.

4. It seems to me there would be a limit of what you could do. You can only pull a sled a few hundred times until you get bored.

5. Vendors will not get involved unless they have a contract saying that there product will be better than the rest. Well, It would be hard for ATS or DTT to say yes when to make the game fair one would have to be better. What would ATS say if you call them and say "We already have DTT and would like you guys. DTT will be the better trans, yours will be the second best". I would say go fly a kite. OH... then there is the corporate lawyers these guys use... wait til they get a hold of it... watch out.

Now, do not get me wrong. I think it is great you have this idea. Many successful companies are started with such day dreams. The developer you contacted wants your money and of course they will write your game for a fee. But make sure you are sitting down before you read the estimate. It will be quite big. I would bet full development would be in the 6 figures while each phase would be a 5 figure number.

You are doing the right thing in passing the idea on to the big development houses. They have product development teams that sit around all day and think up ideas for games. If it gets to them and they can prove that there will be a demand then it may get slated for review for possible development. It would be fun to see.

Good luck with your adventure!! Keep us updated!!

Thanks

Phil

ok you would need to get dodge gm and ford to liscence there vehicles and cummins for the engine and definatly a part in the game were you can drive round town racing ricers and oo yea we would definatly need SMOKE i would buy that the day it came out it would be the best i say all the power to you go for it

PRyker,

Thanks for your input and your right about getting the new sponcers to agree to be in the game but Im sure we can figger out a way to make them interested after all its advertising to them . and we could set it up where both looked good by adding degrees of upgrades like a 10% ATS vs a 20% DTT ... . see there will be ways to try to make everyone happy now when your maxed out 100% ATS vs 100% DTT thats where well have to have real life compairisons shine threw I personally think as long as a companys product is protrayed as a real life counter part there wont be no miss interpitations.

The performance digffrence of upgrades is being down right now in many video games and acctually its been done for years you could put the super sticky tire on your car and take coners way faster than you could at stock... . upgrades in video games is noit a new thing its been done for years ... and with as good as there being protrayed today I think if who ever developes the game takes the time to do real life testing for ingame results... ... ... One could actually test there next real life BOMB on the game or set there game truck up exactlly like it is in real life and take it to the dyno to see what there getting... . I beleave this game is the futre of gaming and it has plenty of game modes to keep it interesting... ... . to use your statement about

""""10 second ride going straight down a track of dirt and may not drive as much excitment """"

I can see what your saying but its not going to be that way you start out pulling up and hooking and you have to watch all your gauges and launch at the right boost and every thing then you must time your propane and NOS and shifting in the autos and picking the right gear in the standard . the tracks will also vary in hardness so it may never be the same maybe you complete mini-games toget inside info of track conditions as you pull ..... and even more details to come I truely think we can protray that 10 sec run into a ------10 sec seat of your pants button pounding accurate timeing blast down the track. with cool music and babes also .

its the future of video gaming as far as Im concerned

Im just gaining momentum right now and Ill see where it goes

I have a nascar game that has a really cool shop area. You can change alotta stuff, specific to the car (ie. caster, weight adjustment, gearing, and etc. ). It also has a paint shop for the truck and a part to customize uniforms for the crew. My Gran Tourismo game (for PS) also has ALOT of upgrades for the cars and such that as you when money you buy upgrades/new cars. So it's not impossible to add in the upgrades and such. It'd be cool to build it around a set of cities and have dealerships and vendors in the different towns (taking this idea from Hard Truck series). Thats similar to how the Gran Tourismo game is set-up (just all in one city). Maybe add in a Hot-shot area to make extra money inbetween pulls and add a drag racing series. Have an all-around truck championship series too would be cool.

Sounds like ya just need to sit down and rank what the most important things you want in the game.

Nathan

the HOT-SHOT mode sounds cool

I think we can fit everything we can think of into the game alot of info can be on a game .

I heard on g4/techtv last night that a sucessful video game makes more money than a sucessful movie ... . suprised me ... ... . if you look at the development aspect there probly pretty close to costing the same to make.

I have both the games you metioned and personally I hate the GT the cars handle like crap even if you upgrade them I think you have to have the wheel to fully expirence the game I personally perfer the feal of the test drive or need for speed series as a matter of fact Id say Id pick GTA handling physics over GT anyday.

in the game on the track editor you can do anything anywhere you could build a track on mars if you wanted with little aliens in the stands ... ... lol... just to keep things diffrent from what todays games seem to be molded after. maybe even chose blacktop as a pulling surface,,gravel, sand,, ,snow,,rain youd deffently have to pic the slicks on black top and the mudders in the snow ... if not your breaking some stuff I think we can keep the game full of new and interesting things and it will be as indeath as the greatest games of our time.

After putting more thought in to the game I think if tdr got involed that ford and others wouldnt give us there licence we need to find NEUTRAL GROUND to gain sponcerships. If tdr was involed the game likly would only have dodges witch would be cool but not what Im after.

Still checking on things .
