Archived Truck Quits Running, Help

Hi Thanks

My 98. 5, 24vl, quit running going down the road Thurday but i was going about 35 mph when it did. It never really did stop. It was like you turned the key off and right back on again. The check engine light came on, I drove it on home. My wife and I tried to pull up the codes on it but we were never sure on how to do that. So I changed the fuel filter in it, ran to and from work yesterday fine (about 90 miles). Then coming home today it did the exact same thing again that it did on Thursday. going along about 55 and it just died, I was just coasting and without any effort on my part it it just fired back on. It is an automatic trans. Any wild guesses? I am afraid it is gonna put me afoot! Thanks!

Almost guaranteed to be a VP44 going south on you. You will need to get codes checked to be sure though.

find the nearest Auto Zone. They will pull the codes for you.

You need a code reader to get the codes on 98and 99 trucks. they can be had at auto supply stores,or auto zone will read for you. Sounds like you have a vp-44 fuel injection pump starting to fail. Best of luck with it.

Checked them code is P 0121,tps pedle position sensor "A" Can anyone tell me where it is located and where I can buy one?

You need to replace the APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor).
