My 93 4X4 runs good down the road, smooth. Come to a red light or stop sign and it shakes bad. Tried turning the idle down and up nothing seems to help. So bad can't see out the mirrors. Any suggestions?

Motor seems to run fine. It shakes while stopped waiting for the light to change. I think the transmission, flex plate or something may be developing a issue. Does that make sense?

Could it be the torque converter locking/unlocking. Try putting it in neutral and see if that stops the shakes?? I assume you have the auto since you mentiion the flex plate. bg

1st gen, no locking converters unless its been put in. ;)

If you can't get the shake out by adjusting the idle its a good bet you have some injectors not popping correctly.

My 91. 5 would shake/shudder at idle when warmed-up at a stop in gear. Someone had changed the transmission fluid and put the wrong fluid back in. I changed the fluid and problem solved.

If I slip the truck in neutral the shaking isn't quite has bad but it is still there. Has soon has I throttle up it goes away. The transmission has Chrysler ATF+4. I backed the idle off because it use to slam into gear from park to drive. That seems allot better. I have no tack so I set it by ear. To the best of my knowledge the truck has original equipment injectors. Have around 175000 on them.

Have some one sit in your pickup holding the brake on, with it in gear, then increase your idle slowly till the shudder stops. Test engaging drive to see if it slams into gear. You should be able to find a happy medium between the two.
