Truck slow to start

This past weekend I installed the TST 230/605 plate and also installed the Prime-lock fuel filter kit on my '98 12-valve. (I know, one mod at a time) Now the truck starts like it is loosing it's prime, except that it makes no difference how long it sets. It starts the same after 10 hours as it does after 10 seconds. It used to start instantly. Now it cranks for 3 or 4 seconds before it starts. Is this a charcteristic of the cam plate, or should I blame the Primelock, or should I look elsewhere, such as the fuel solenoid, since it was movved to install the plate? I do have a small leak at the water in fuel sensor on the filter but that is the only one I have found so far. Any ideas?

For the most part anytime you leak fuel while running you will also suck air while shutdown. Your leak at the sensor is probably the problem.

Illflem: Thanks for the reply! I do need to stop that leak, but I have my doubts that that will solve the problem. Seems to me if it were sucking air, the longer it sat, the worse it would be, but thats not the case. If you read my AFC post under 12-valvI also have a low end power problem after installing the plate and it has been suggested to adjust the screw at the end of the AFC housing to enrichen the mixture. Maybe that will help this starting problem also.

Problem solved. Adjusting the no load screw on the back of the AFC housing, per HEMI-Dart's instructions, cured the problem.
