Pulled out of a toll booth the other day and left a cloud of black smoke. It is really noticable in the lower gears. Also when I started the truck to look into the issue, I noticed it took about fifteen seconds for the WAIT TO START light to go out. Any Ideas.

Thanks

Ken

Uhhh, your truck is a diesel, so that probably why your noticing the black smoke. As for the wait to start light, it has gotten cooler here in WV at night. In the mornings it take a little longer for my light to go out also.

If you have never tightened your intercooler hoses, then get out a 7/16 deep socket and really tighten (gorilla tight) those things down. You'll notice a difference.

Hot day?

Ken, has your weather been hot lately? Mine will smoke a lot more when temps run much above 90. It has been in the 90s in this part of the Northwest the last couple days, I really left a thick cloud when I nailed it Friday :D

I will check the intercooler hoses.

Diesel_Dodgeboy, I will replace my spark plugs.

I wish I had the DDII's in, need to get exhaust and guages first.

I'm also wondering if a bad tank of feul would have excessive smoke?

Thanks for your answers

Ken

you are right, that you need guages first. but no need to wait for a new exhaust system.

they dont do much for you anyway. :D

Black Smoke = :) :) :)

Lots of Black Smoke = :D :D :D

Red & Blue flashing lights in your rear view mirror =

Priceless

Cost of a new Dodge CTD... . $36,000

Cost if an Edge EZ box... $500. 00

Cost of McLeod dual disk clutch... $1200. 00

Cost of a BD stage 5 injectors... $996. 00

The look on their face as you leave them in a cloud of heavy black soot, accelerating through the gears at mach 5 +..... PRICELESS :D

For everything else there's gassers.

I like black smoke. Quite frankly, this low humidity and less smoke is bringing me down

Try 110°+ :) . It's a ton of fun (well 3/4 ton anyway) to wait for the little convertables and give 'em a puff. :D It's also my way of letting the Phord behind me know I wanna play.

I was in town with my wife a couple of weeks back and had a little rice rocket full of kids, stereo pounding, windows down...

Got the green light, and I fumigated the whole car. All four of 'em were sitting there waving their hands back and forth trying to clear the smoke.

Man I love my truck, it's a never ending source of enjoyment. Just when I think I have found all the fun things to do I find one more.
