A buddy of mine wanted me to ask on here see if anyone knew what might be wrong with his truck. This will be 3rd time at dealer still can't fix. One day it runs fine, next day it may not. Sometimes it will go a week and run fine then all of sudden it starts acting like it smothers out. It also starts smoking white smoke when it does this. Last time it came back from dealer the smoke changed from white to grayish blue. He didn't know what they did to it but about 3 days later it started acting up again. He said they checked lift pump. He thinks its something shorting out or something electrical because it does not do it all the time. He told me saturday he was coming home with empty gooseneck trailer and it started doing it. He had to unhook trailer at friends house and he said empty on flat ground he finally got to 6th gear and go pedal on floor and hold it he managed to get to 59 mph. He babied it all way home. He didn't drive it sunday and monday drove to work never missed a lick. He said it was back to normal again. By the way his truck is a 02 HO 6 speed.

Get the guy to check his codes. Turn the key off and on three times and check readout on the odometer. 0216 Means failing injection pump.

What Houser said... I'd guess the injection pump too. If it was always running crappy I'd say check the fuel filter, as that happened to me once, but the fact it runs normal one time and then won't go over 59mph the next makes me think the VP44 is on its last legs...
