i had to replace my vp44 the other week. since then i have notice when i pull out of a parking spot and change gears from rev to dr or dr to rev the motor trys to stall . sometime it does i have a fass pump on the truck with a gauge it holds 15psi but when you start the truck it takes about 15-20 sec for the gauge to move . has anybody had the same problem before?

ETanchak: I ran across your post while searching the same problem.

After I had the VP44 replaced recently, the motor started stalling when pulled into gear. The tech said it was the torque converter (Suncoast). Funny that it didn't stall before the VP44 was replaced.

I have a FASS with 15 pounds pressure.

Anybody find a solution to this issue?

Is the FASS the 95 gph or 150 GPH? Apparently there was another update for VP44 pumps & the 150 GPH pumps have been to much. Causing hard starts. Usually the 150's are around 17 psi.

I have wired in a hobbs switch in the FASS harness ground wire that uses oil pressure to complete the circuit. The FASS doesn't come on for 2 or 3 seconds, when the oil pressure comes up.

Another problem I have seen lately is corrosion in rear harness connection &/or broken connectors back by the pump. I don't know if rocks or road debris are hitting the connectors, but I have removed the connector & hard wired 5 trucks in the last month. I would check the battery connections as well.

I will check the battery and all ground connections. I noticed today when I drive at freeway speeds in OD and lift the throttle, the rpms don't drop but stay the same which would indicate to me that the converter is locked. If I touch the brake, the converter unlocks and the rpm drops to a little over 800.
