Thanks for the help witht he starting problem. I found the fuel solenoid connector was loose, so I sandpapered the connection and tightened the connector and tightened it in place. The truck runs, but the transmission won't engage. I raised the truck on four stands so I can check the steering and it feels fine, no binding. When it is in "park", the wheels won't lock. When I put it in "reverse", my lights come on, my reverse beeper comes on, but when I step on the gas, no wheels turn. When I put it in other driving gears, no wheels turn. The wheels only turn in 4 wheel drive with the hubs turned in the locked position. Any suggestions for this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your t-case is not shifting out of neutral when you try to hit 2x4.

In 4x4 with the t-case lever and it will move, correct?

In 2x4 by the t-case lever the truck does not move, correct?

Hi Cerberusiam! You hit the nail on the head! That is why the transmission didn't engage.

I am stilll having trouble with intermitant starting. I checked it this morning and it was perfect - started 3 or 4 times without hesitation. Yesterday, it seemed like the KSB wire was loose when it wouldn't start, so I tightened the connector a little bit and it seemed to work, but after I turned the engine off after idling a while, it wouldn't start again. I took the KSB connector off and on a few times and then it started again. But when I turned it off, it wouldn't start again unless I removed the connector and re-connected. Finally, I needed to know if the KSB solenoid was bad, so I took it out, tested it and it tested OK - the plunger came out 1/4" when I put the voltage to it as it should. In previous reading on this forum, I read once that a difficult start may be hot weather problem and there is a fix for that, but I can't seem to find that entry again. Any ideas?

Should I replace the park/neutral switch on the transmission?

Sounds to me more like a fuel selenoid, if it's random like that..... I don't think you would have to change the transmission switch if it's turning over. If the switch is bad, as in it stayed open, it wouldn't allow the starter relay to engage power to the solenoid and turn the engine over. As far as the KSB, I think it should start with it disengaged, so you need to check the contacts to the fuel solenoid, IMO.
