Truck status: painting today

I called DC today to check the status of my order and they said that it was being painted right now. What stage is this in the cycle and how far along till they actually complete the truck at this point? Thanks for any help.

I ordered on Feb 22 and mine has been sitting in mexico for almost a month... . I haven't been looking, the sales guy just tells me whats going on.

Be patient, I ordered 12/15/03, due at dealer any day. But then that's what they told me last week, and the week before that.

Wow... have you checked Insight ? It's not totally accurate but close for some of the build & moves...



I ordered on the afternoon of 2/17, arrived at dealer 4/1... (and that was with some holdup on the 3500's. ) That was in Northern Calif. (Petaluma)



I did have a different 3500 (same specs) ordered at a dealer up by Sacramento, ordered about 2/12 & it's just getting delivered sometime this week... so I guess each dealer has a different ship allotment!



I'm not sure I could have waited 4 months!!!

We ordered new 3500 on the 2/26/04. I was told the wait would be around 5 weeks, the truck was due in on 4/14/04, but now has been pushed back to 4/26/04. Patiently waiting in Ohio.

I ordered mine on Feb 11 it was shipped to storage 03/25, released from factory 03/31 and still hasn't left Mexico according to Insight. DC customer service says it is in transit but they can't find a railcar number. I was supposed to get it on 4/21 but that has been pushed back to 4/29. I had an appointment to pick up my trailer on 4/28 but I guess I need to cancel that for now.

Yes, insight says it has been in Spokane since 4/5, due at dealer (Dave Smith, ID) on 4/19.

I ordered mine on 3-4 and it went to D1 on 4-9. I am being told that the time frame from D1 to competion of the build is usually 12-14 days. We'll see...

From working on the 1500 ram line I can tell you that if your truck is at paint, then it is nothing but a shell of a bed and cab with doors (no frame, nothing). After it comes out of paint the bed and cab get seperated and go off in thier opposite directions. Then the doors get door handles put on and the doors come back off of the cab and go down another line to get outfitted. The cab then starts getting outfitted itself (dash, electronics, weather stripping, carpet, seats, etc. ).

I ordered my 3500SRW 6spd Cummins 600 LBx Quad on 9Feb04. I see on 'Insight' it was built yesterday at 07:08. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get from the factory to my dealer.

The info I have on status codes is:



D1 - Gateline Schedule (scheduled to be built)

Assembly Line:

E - Frame

F - Paint

G - Trim

Assembly Completed:

I - Built but not OK'd

J - Built, OK'd

JB - Shipped to body vendor

JE - Emission Check

JS - Shipped to storage

KZ - Released by plant, invoiced

Shipping Status:

The rest of the codes are all KZ_ codes that pertain to shipping.



From what I have seen on Insight, it looks like they normally only show D1 and then KZ. I think Insight only gets updated every 3 days or so, but it gives a good idea how things are progressing.



Mine started being built yesterday (ordered 3/17/04). No matter how many times I look, it doesn't speed up the process. I'm hoping to get it by Memorial Day.

Also you need your dealer code, (several ways to get, but check your order sheet to start) then you need a vin or von.....



Only need last 8 on the vin... such as 4G22xxxx, or use the whole vin if your a reallllly fast typer!
