I have a 2001 dodge diesel, it stumbling about 6 months ago and we replaced fuel tank module and the fuel transfer pump and it seemed to be on for around 6 weeks and started doing the same thing again, I took the truck to a diesel shop in Vegas and they replced the fuel pump module and the fuel tranfer pump again, and they replaced apps to the tune of $ 2200. 00 The truck ran fine for about month and is doing the same thing again, we peplaced all the fuel filters, the truck is getting so bad that I am afraid to leave town with it. A couple days ago we did finally get a check engine light and by using the ing switch we have a code of 1693. I need some help guys, live out in the middle of nowhere and Im stuck

1693 just means theres been a code detected in the pcm. If you dont have any other codes to go by, that one isnt going to tell you anything unfortunately. Do you have old batteries? Make sure they are in good condition clean connections and all your grounds are clean and tight. The vp trucks are very sensitve to seeing proper voltage and if you have any of the problems I just listed it could send your engine into fits and never throw a code. It could also be an issue with your ecm but I would definitely check all the simple things first as the ecm will cost you a pretty penny. Oh and for future reference even though its a little late now, the shop you took your truck to cost you alot of unneccessary money. They must have replaced the entire belle crank assembly which was totally unneccessary unless yours was broken or smashed they dont go bad. the apps sensor is the only thing that goes bad and you can buy them online for about 160 bucks.

Is your transfer pump in the tank module or by the fuel filter? In tank pumps rarely go out. Your truck would of had the tranfer pump oringanally by the fuel filter.

Your going to need a code reader/scanner to get the codes.

Definitely electrical... . I'd look at battery grounds, as stated above, and maybe even run a direct ground from the battery to the ECM. Also, check for any wires not connected good at the connectors or any wires that may be rubbed, exposing wires to direct grounds.

I would like to thank everyone who rsponded to my distress inquiry for my 2001 Ram. It had a nasty tendency to stumble at the wrong time. , the problem was a combination of some bad grounds ( engine compartment ) and one bad battery, 300 miles later it is running fine.

Thanks Again
