Thanks, TDR Staff

I'm employed at the fair

Need advice on removing gas fumes.

According to the pictures, this appears to be an older device? Maybe was ahead of its time back then/

Probably before the cup holder craze hit, would be messy with a supersize drink :-laf

There was an M37 in the top truck challenge that was setup with something like that, seemed to work great.

My dad had a log skidder that had the swivel deal in the middle where it articulated also. It was just a huge pin in a hole type deal.

Articulated ag and industrial equipment have been doing this for a long time, kind of an odd feeling when the back half is at a different angle then the front.

I believe the M37 from the TTC had a hydraulic cylinder, so the driver could control the angle of the two halves.

we built a swamp buggy 35 years ago that would swivel like that,we used an f-650 ford truck front spindle and hub with a short peice of front axle. the kingpin was placed straight up and down,it was used to turn the machine, the stub axle and the king pin/spindle was mounted on the front half of the buggy. the hub was mounted on the rear half, allowing the front to swivel. ,now get this,we used a morris minor engine and transmission, mounted on the back half, radiator to the rear. 4 speed transmission running to a 9'' ford rearend mounted with one axle going straight down, the other axle was cut off and welded to the housing using a big homemade washer, the other axle drove another 9'' ford, hooking to the pinion yoke, this rear was placed with the axles heading to each end of the buggy and they in turn were hooked to the dana 44 rears that drove the wheels . duel tractor tires on the rear, singles on the front. all rears were mounted solid, and we used the f-650 steering box to turn it,chain was used as a stop to keep it from swiveling too much. 2 seats mounted on the front out of the morris minor,we used boat controls with cables to shift and as a throttle. it was slow, but in the salt marsh it would go anywhere. it was made out of old junk and old tractor parts using a buzbox welder and a cutting torch. it was crude as hell, but, man it was cool!

Just cut your truck in half and put in a Super Size Universal Joint, that should do it!

But wouldn't the center of the driveshaft have to be the center of the swivel? I imagine a arched member with it's center point at the driveshaft. Kinda like an eyebrow over an eye. The arch has a slot for one half of the truck and the other a T shaped part that rides in the slot. Maybe I'm still way off.

RDupree - we want pics

I was half kidding TPC! In reality your idea would work IF the front wheels did the turning. If the front wheels were locked, and it turned like a front end loader, i. e. rotating in both X (like the pictures) AND Y axes, then it would be a little more complicated.
