I'm in the market for a toolbox for my '04 SWB. I know that there are Husky, Kobalt, Dee Zee, UWS, Protech, Knaack, Craftsman, TSC, Delta, etc. out there, however I like the 'biscuit lock' receivers on the Ranch Hand boxes - does any other manufacturer have something similar?

Are there any favorite boxes out there among the Dodge / Cummins faithful? Any Ranch Hand knock-offs? Any good deals in the north Texas area?

'biscuit lock'? Can you explain this a little? I love my Protech. Best aluminum box made in my opinion.

Ah... I see. The view is alright. It stands about 7" high on the bedrails so I can't see the gooseneck ball but I don't even see it in the rearview mirror. IIRC I can just see the top of the tailgate in the mirror.

I second the ProTech. The best quality on the market but they are a little spendy. If you are looking for size over looks you can get the Ford Superduty size and it fit between the bed rails perfectly. But it sticks over the bed rails too much for my taste so I opted for the regular size. :)

I posted a pic of the very secure lock on my toolbox. 1 of 2 locks they routinely install. See it in the Reader's Rigs Gallery... Gerry

Beware of putting a tool box in your short bed, I did and realized just exactly how short my box was. I cant fit a darn thing in the bed with my tool box in. Any body want to trade?

Rawson Koenig (no sure on spelling), they are a Texas co. and make the best in my opinion. Steel construction instead of aluminum but they are tough and heavy. I got mine sprayed with the bedliner material to match my bed

It is short without a doubt but I didn't think it was too bad, I can drive my JD mower into the bed still but the gate has to be down.

I like my Aluminum tool box also and keeps the sleeper look;)

Gerry, that type of locking system is important to me - BTW South Texas Outfitters doesn't have any pictures of their boxes on their web site - Where did you buy yours?

Are the locks on other boxes very secure? I like the Ranch Hand and the locks on your box because I'll be keeping several expensive nail guns and accessories in there. Are all locking boxes fairly secure?

This box is made of steel diamond plate and to me is very secure. I added a couple pix of the locks and mechanism in the Reader's Rigs Gallery area. They supply the locks with the toolbox. I dealt with Steve and Jay when I bought my bumpers and box and am VERY happy with them. These locks don't even give an idea how to attack them. The locks themselves have "LSDA" imprinted on them.
