HAM RADIO MOUNTING IN a 2003 AUTOMATIC RAM...

Just read the latest truck trend magazine head to head test of the ford F-250 and the Dodge Ram 2500 HD

Both trucks are very similar setup except for the gear ratio and the tire size.

Ford edged out over the Ram due mainly to the fact of

1. Steering wander and confidence.

2. More refined and features to use

3. and the slightly better fuel economy. (15% better when loaded). . (about equal empty)

Oh and to have this better fuel economy and a little better handling and the glitzy features on the dash. . sets you back $10,600 more!!

Think I will stay with my 09 dodge and get rear airbags to offset the handling. . I already have the 19. 5" commercial tires to help that... those things will help the mileage. . and I can do without the luxury stuff and save ten grand!!

You forgot to mention one other big advantage that Furd had over Dodge in the Truck Trend comparison test . . .

. . . more advertising dollars spent with Truck Trend by Furd.

I subscribe to Truck Trends too and that article was pretty much worthless. I specially loved the trailer pushing the Ram truck into a 'understeer feel' or something to that effect. It was like what the hell? I think Consumer Reports sent over some of their small car testers to Truck Trends to teach them a thing or to about trucks and trailer.

The $ 10,600 differnce and my love of the Cummins makes it an easy choice. Not to mention the total incompetence of the local Ford Dealership for service.

I read that article also, but when I looked under the hood of one at a recent showing, I would never want to work one! OMG... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... What a nightmare!

To quote Shakespear, "If thy Ford doth have a Cummins, how many of ye would still driveth a Dodge"?

I would in a heartbeat... IF it were available with a manual transmission also. But with no manual transmission available in the ferd, plus the fact that Dodge has the Cummins, AND at a $10,600 price difference, the choice is easy for me!

I'd consider a Ford with a Cummins,pre-Transformer styling, and their new coil front setup that cut 5. 5' of turning radius in all configurations. I like their bigger cab also. All these trucks are overpriced.
