911- Need help with a 7.3 E350(trans. problem)

Powerstroke vs. Cummins vs. Duramax

My 2002 2500 has been cutting out on me, normally at slower speeds (25-55mph). i think it is the throttle position sensor but I'm not positive. i was just wondering if anybody has had the same problem. the truck is pulling up the codes 1693, 0122, and 0121.

anybody have any ideas?

the 122 and 121 codes are for the APPS and the 1693 code is a companion code just saying there is trouble. sounds like you have the problem figured out. I believe it is a dealer only part just work them over and ask for the best price after they give you the price they would like to get. I think mine for my 2000 was 475 list and I got it for 350 plus tax.

I've had two APPS failures this year. The symptoms both times was the foot pedal goes dead, no response, and the engine quits fueling and goes to idle when you take it out of gear. I was able to nurse it to the next town by rapidly working the accelerator pedal up and down a dozen times or so. That caused the APPS to begin working again for a brief time. An APPS can be purchased from MOPAR or Cummins and the price quoted above is what I paid recently also.

I'm not a mechnic but your symptom sounds more like a fueling problem . . either lift/transfer pump or the VP-44 injection pump.

I just took mine into a buddy's shop today and he said the same thing. The APPS is going out, and so is my lift pump. 5psi @ 2000rpm!! I had the exact same codes and the same symptoms.

I got my new apps today, replaced LP with Fass pump. Just as a reference, I found out that when the APPS starts going crazy, just use the cruise control. My truck drove normally on the highway once I set the cruise, even though the go pedal wouldn't work!
