Competition I need some slicks....

Competition Line lock for racing

I have a question, if you were to tie hitch to hitch with another truck for a tug-0-war, would it be best to wait and let the other truck spin thier tires before you get on it or get on the go pedal right off the bat? There is a real smarta** boy around here with a new ford that i would love to drag all over the county. I just would like to do it right. I think the ford is auto while mine is a 5 speed. :p

Ok, do you like your clutch? It wont like you after this. You will hafta slip the crap out of it and NOT spin tires. 4x4 is your friend. Make your truck as heavy as possiable. Also, wheel hop is bad. Try to cheat and have your hitch higher than him. Try not to roll backwards, you will be digging a bigger hole.

let 'em spin first if you can. then creep forward in 4Lo and you should drag him along. sad thing is, these contests do nothing to prove which truck is more powerful. it is only about traction and physics. make sure your hitch is higher than his like jff24gordn said. that will be a huge advantage.

weight plays a big part too. I tied against a big block chevy and had bald tires. I took him just about anywhere I wanted.

This seems to be the latest thing in Kentucky. They had an article in the Lexington paper about it, sometime ago.

A better proof of who has the strongest truck? Timed runs with a heavily loaded trailer. Uphill. :D

Dude I would get a trailer and do it up! Hp is HP and Tyres are Tyres HP VS TYRES is a loaded gun. Once you build boost and the tires can no longer acheive their traction its over. You could have a 12 seccond truck and 800 HP / 1400 Ft Lbs. Contact patch is only so wide and at the most x4 If power is sent 50X50X50X50. If the tires dont slip it will be a clutch / output shaft / ego. Tell him to hook up the trailer you brought its the REAL mans way of doin' things. Unless this is a crowd gathering mess opt out for it. Briar I think I agree.

I say, pull him, and see who has more smarts getting the traction down, and maintain the peak of traction.

I raced a PowerStroke, Chip, Injectors, BB turbo, Intake, exhuast, TC, the works,, We were going up a pretty steep hill, I was in 5th, he got the jump on me about 40MPH (when he decided to race), and I quickly pulled on him. He had a 35' trailer with a 6,000Lb truck, I had a 49' trailer with a 8,000Lb truck. I passed him around 55-60MPH, and when the back of my trailer was level with the front of his truck, the truck started smoking a little more than usual.

I beat him during the race,, but it was an expensive race, and I'm still putting the truck back together from that race. So far, the bill has come out to be $3,000+ Head, Gaskets, (Cam :) ), tools, etc.

EDIT: Just let your clutch out in 2nd Low, and let your truck idle away,, If he gets to anxious,, he'll probly spin his tires, and you'll just tug him the other way. Unless you start hopping, I don't think you have enough power to hurt the transmission,, but your rear diff could be a different story.

I'll probably just go ahead and Bit*h slap him,i have wanted to for years anyway. His dad,(who is a good friend of mine) refers to him as that little C**k suc*** . :D :D

Did this tug-o-war once before, a freind of mine was real confident my diesel slug couldn't hold up to his, (I'm terribly embarassed to say this) chevy 1/2 ton gasser. So I grabbed the tow strap, and off we went.

The first pull, is loose dirt/sand, we hook up and mash 'em, nothing happend, we both sunk in the dirt. Needless to say, he's laughin' his arse off, thinkin' that it may have well been a victory for his POS.

Keep in mind I have about 2500#'s on his truck, and slightly more power/torque. :p So feeling mildly humiliated, I say get your arse out to the road... (hard pack, well traveled side road, with almost zero chace of digging in). He is so happy I didn't pull him in the 1st try, he's almost running to his truck to try again.

Now the fun part, hehe, we hook up, tighten the strap, and mash the go pedals (he's and auto, and I'm a 6-speed), I feel a slight tug on the rear of the truck... ... ... ... ... . while I'm shifting from 2nd to 3rd, LMAO. Quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen, nearly as funny as the look on his face when I finally stopped. :D

Bottom line, if you have the power to pull the weight, and traction is there, the heavier vehicle will win. Lots 'o fun, but means nothing. See if you guys can find a local sled pull, that will make him zip his lip. ;)

If you have a slide in bed liner, find some 1" steel plate and line the bed. If he asks why it sits so low in the back, say its the camper special to make it lower to get under a camper.

And it's peoplelike you who start those "odd" rumours. :)

If you do that, it'll get your traction WAYY up there, and you'll probly win,, and he'll go around saying watch those Cummins with the Camper special... .

On another note,, Does that mean all those rear-end saggy Fords have the Camper special ?

well, there is the TSB for lowering the rear end for trailers. And have you ever noticed the ferd trucks with the "camper special" tag right under the F250 tag on the 70's trucks.

Hookup

Do you have a gooseneck hitch in your truck? If you do hook up to that. If he is hooking up to a hitch under his pumper you will have a big edge. I have seen the same truck try to pull out a stuck truck while hooked to the bumper and could not do it. Same truck hooked to gooseneck yanked it right out. Makes that back end squat and get traction.

I don't have a gooseneck, i was going to get a longer trailer but will have to wait as i just bought another project truck, a 57 Dodge.
