2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Truck Weight

Curious on truck weight.



I got my truck weighed today, 6420lbs. 98 24v shortbox with 315/75/16s. I was expecting it to be around 7000lbs.

Mine weigh's 7200lb with a full tank, 02 4X4 Excab, longbed Oo.

That doesn't sound like it is off by much. My standard cab 2WD is 6080 full of fuel, without me.

When I bought mine, it only had a bug guard as the only accessory. Full tank, no one in it, and weight 7K flat.

Sounds close, my 98 Quad Cab 12V was 6700lbs on the scale at a recent pull. That was with me in it, 210lbs.

My truck did 8107 on our freight scale at work. No real weight adding accessories. Back seat full of junk. Full tank and my 165 lb frame inside.

I want so bad to put my friend's 2500 HD on the scale. He swears up and down that the "GVWR" number on the inside of the door is actual vehicle curb weight. What a goofy *ss. "My truck weighs 9600lb. " he says all the time, and I just laugh.

He's one of those DuraTrash know it alls.

Oh well.

I'm a comfortable 240 (before lunch ) but I'm 6'1" so that makes it ok doesnt it?... . doesnt it? :-laf :-laf



The truck is still a bit on the heavy side and I imagine the bumper, winch, and even my traction bar setup had a bit to do with it . I am getting a headache rack and a fuel/tool combo for it soon though, I don't even want to think about the weight then :{

With a few tools, some engine parts, and other stuff, now I'm sitting at 9120lbs... I was guessing maybe 1000lbs of stuff... not almost 3k! Still sitting fairly level too.

I'm tryin to figure out how a friend of mines 98 2500 shortbed 4x4 ctd weighs only 100 lbs less than mine (see sig).



Seems kinda hard to believe, but he's had it weighed 2x now, and the weights were within 50 lbs. no extra stuff on or in it either.

My 01 3500 with an aluminum toolbox full of goodies, full of fuel and my 280# butt in the seat weighs 8040#.
