Hi everyone, I said that I would report back. I let the local garage look after the fuel leak. It turns out that the fuel connection one one of the injectors was only hand tight. That was my leak. That explains the stumbles and funny operation. They used brake cleaner and cleaned all the oil off the wires. and retaped them. the truck runs great.

Since no one has ever touched the fuel system, I find the loose injector strange.

Thank you all for your advice. I would not be running today with out it.

sorta on topic....

I went through something similar last year with my Dads Dakota.

Turns out small critters were making it into their home.

If at all possible get those wires covered. Even if you could get some old heater hose and slit it lengthwise and cover them it will do a world of good.

The dealer charged me $700 to de-critter the wires. #@$%!

His truck regularly sits for months between times it's used, but it's something to think about. :D

The shop cleaned all the oil from the wires and connectors. Used brake cleaner (Freon) retaped all the wires, found the leak (loose injector connection) told me to drive the truck for a couple days before paying and only charged $100. 00.
