I drove the truck on a 3 hour trip with no problems running between 50 and 80 mph and once I got into my neighborhood, I stopped at a stop sign and accelerated away from the stop sign at a normal pace, the transmission acted as though it was slipping into neutral at 30 mph and back into gear below 30. Transmission fluid is full and doesn't smell burnt. When the truck acts like it is shifting into neutral, the engine revs up past 2000 rpm with throttle applied.

Very strange that this suddenly happened after a 3 hour trip which leads me to believe it could be electrical related. There are no codes and no enhanced DTCS.

I don't know where to look. Thanks in advance for any ideas. I'm planning on taking it to the stealership tomorrow as I don't have a backup vehicle.

Disregard the signature below about the transmission. The transmission was rebuilt 37,500 miles ago, of course 1500 miles out of warranty.

I also filled with fuel at a station I don't normally fill at.

If the engine is revving then it likely isn't fuel. Have you tried manually shifting?

Sounds like it is starting in drive which is likely transducer and\or gov solenoid.

I disconnected the batteries to try the battery trick. While the batteries were disconnected, I used an Exide Accuracy Plus battery tester on the batteries and they both indicated bad.

Could low voltage cause this condition?

Edit: I also tried the 3 key turn trick and all the display said was "done"

I tried shifting into second and it did the same thing. I didn't think it was fuel, but I filled at a station I don't normally fill at and it had been a while since I changed the filter. It accelerates and shifts normal up to 30 mph and then just revving.

Is the engine actually bogging out at that speed and will not rev or is 30 top speed and engine will rev to red line?

Are you getting any shifts or does it feel like it is stuck in 1 gear? If the engine will rev to red line it is likely not the problem, something in the transmission has gone wrong from the description.

My apologies for not getting back to this thread sooner. The transmission output speed sensor went bad. It cost $300 to fix once they figured out what was wrong.
