Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Truck Won't Move! Help transmission Problem

The other day I was moving my Automatic to a new parking spot at my house. I moved it a couple of yards, then I put it in park and then wanted to move it again. BUT, the truck won't move as I go through the gears-- just revs-up like it is in neutral? As I go through the gears it sounds like something it happening and when I try and put it in Park, I get a slight grinding sound but smooth shifting in the rest of the gears. Anybody know what's up??? the truck rolls like it is in neutral.

Check the transfer case and see if it is in neutral? bg

A local guy asked me to rebuild his trans, I started it, realized it was trying to go, then pulled the transfer case shifter and it ground!! He said why is it in neutral? I said maybe from all the JUNK in the cab? Money saved I said. He is the type of guy who doesn't understand or care about his vehicles.

Always check the simple things first!
