Yesterday the truck started fine in the am, several times. I parked it, walked inside and came back 20 mins later to a truck that wouldn't start at all. When you clicked the key over to "Start" I could hear a clicking in the dash, but that was it. The starter didn't try to engage or anything. I had 2 full batteries (even tried jumping it just in case), but all I could get was the "click".
I thought it was the starter solenoid so I replaced it (actually have to replace the whole assembly), but still the same result. I checked all the fuses (none blown), then swapped the starter relay with the trailer relay (same one) and still all I got was the click. At this point I was a little irked and gave the electrical distribution box a love tap with a hammer and WHAM - the truck starts! It started several times over, but now won't start this am.
So I know its electrical, and it really seems like a loose connection since I could tap on the electrical distribution box and it cranked, but I can't keep hoping that tapping on a box will make it work. Any ideas on what is underneath the hood of the electrical distribution box? I don't really want to crack into it, but I'd like to get my truck running again w/out towing it to the dealer and letting them charge me while they scratch their heads.
