Help! I stopped at the Flying J tonight to fill-up and the truck refused to start afterwards. It will crank over fine and the lift pump is working but no start. I had it towed the 25 miles home, and now i am looking for answers.

Won't start

You say the lift pump is working, did you check output pressure or can you just hear it running? Mine still ran after it quit pumping fuel. bg

NO START?

Changed to fuel filter lately? if not check it first do not put dirty filter back in filter housing get new filter. If filter is ok and you have changed it with in a few thousand miles and got fuel at stations like flying J should be ok . If so then open slightly top 1/8 npt plugs left one is after filter right before filter . turn key let pump run air or fuel will come out of thread bleed till no air bump starter let pump run should run 25 seconds do this two or three times . try to start may start and run ruff for several min. If not bleed at banjo fitting at pump , then injectors one at a time ,just crack keep hands away from spray use card board and rags to check fuel spray soon as truck starts tighten banjo . LOL Ron in LOUISVILLE KY:confused: :D P. S. Get a fuel pressure gauge ASAP:eek:

Well, after much bleeding of fuel, and even more cranking, it started. But that P. O. S. lift pump runs sometimes and not sometimes. I guess it is dying. Does anyone know what kind of warranty they have, if any? I replaced it 12,500 miles ago with one from Cummins Cumberland. I am going to give them a call tuesday and see what they say. P. S. now it will start but it takes a lot of cranking.

Lift pump

The lift pump is under the 100,000 warranty of the engine, the dealers have smoked some people off so be persistant. bg

warranty ?

Dodge will warranty the original pump up to 100000 miles under the EPA mandate smog control . The pump from Cummins has a different number on it if you still have the old pump ... ... ..... ? Ron in Louisville KY Oo. Oo. Oo.

You will probably need the conversion plug for the new lift pump installation.

If you are under 100k miles, this unit is covered under warranty.

I wouldnt drive the truck until you can get the new plug and new lift pump.
