Ran fine earlier today now it won't turn over. The check engine light comes on for about 5 seconds but by the time I cycle the keys the light has gone out and the odo display reads PDONE. I run an auxiliary tank so I going to go out and bleed the lines and maybe check the solenoid relay. Any Ides or comparable experiences? Thanks

You say it won't turn over, does that mean it does not crank? As in dead batteries? Or do you mean it does not fire? Do you know what your fuel pressure to the injection pump is? I am assuming you have a 2000-2002 truck since you're seeing P-DONE on the odo? A little more info will help.

The P done is from cycling the key three times on and of leaving the key in the on position. That is just displaying code retreival.

A lil' more detail would however be better.

I think I could be an authority on "no start" problems...

sorry just venting --)

First, check the starter fuse--I once paid over $160 including towing to find from the dealer it was just a fuse!

The next time it WAS the starter, and Cummins wanted over $500 for a NEW one. Kragen Auto Parts carries a re-built with a lifetime guarantee, ironically re-built by Ford's Autolite Division,

for only $189 , but with a $170 core charge(they REALLY want the core back)Easy to change when your left arm can bend 90 degees:)

Now, my starter cranks perfectly but my truck takes forever to start when warm-sick VP$$ (See depressed thread)

got it

To be more specific, the truck would crank but just not run. The starter was working and I could hear the lift pump running, after I let off the ignition

Short story= the truck is running

Long story= I cracked open the banjo fitting supply feed from the fuel pump at the VP44. There was plenty of fuel being supplied. Next I cracked #3 injector just to see if any fuel was getting there. I was working by myself so I'm not sure about this part. I put a rag around the injector feed and got in and cranked the truck. When I went back to the engine there was some fuel on the engine but it wasn't more than a wet spot the size of a quarter. I wasn't sure if this ws normal or if, gulp, the VP44 was shot. I tightened everything back up and cranked it over, only this time I stepped on the pedal a bit and after several pumps the engine coughed to life. In hind site I had switched from my in-bed tank to my stock times several times in a short time span because I thought one of the senders was broken. I think this may have created an air bubble in the system. Truck has run fine the last 2 days

A side note, during all this I did eventually get a code 1693. But I think this is a general fualt and not problem specific.

Thanks for the replies

My truck will start, when cold, after 2 1/2 cranks. But, when warm takes 20 or 30 cranks! I'm ordering a new VP44 tomorrow from -- email address removed -- inTexas.
