2000 2500 auto no upgrades for motor 150k miles



it all started when i left school -- i went to leave the parking lot and head lights are on and also the radio every thing seems to be fine. i went to hit the go pedal and headlights and radio shut off foglights and dash lights stayed on. let up the pedal every thing goes back to normal. it did this four or five times. went to a freinds house for dinner, finished dinner and went to leave. TRUCK WON'T START plenty of battery lights all work fine just won't turn over not even a click. i have no idea i'm gunna look at fuses tom. when i get a chance any other ideas????

how cold is it there? any idea on the condition of the alternator?

Very strange. I don't know anything about the 24 valve engines, but it sounds like you could have some kind of wirng problem. Maybe a harness got pinched or rubbed thru? It seems odd that the go pdeal would kill the radio and some lights.

no idea on altenator every thing worked fine until that night it is about 25 degrees here but the truck only sat for about two hours so it would still haze a little heat left to it

Have you tried removing the battery cables, cleaning them and putting them back on?

now on top of it all i tried starting it again and the ignition stays on when the key is out, could it be in the ignition???

GET A NEW IGN SWITCH!!!!!! There is a set of contacts for the acc possition while in run i had a simmiler problem with my 03 -- fiddled with the key switch and the radio would go out. wacked the steering col and the radio would go out!!!!

won't start

A while back someone posted that if one of the batteries is going by-by, and there is not enough juice to trip the ECM the engine won't start. I would do as suggested, and do a search on the forum, start with the basics.

the truck is back running again between a fuse, ignition switch, and two new batteries it is back on the road thanks for all the help!!!
