Truck sat for 4 days, when I went to work I let it warm up a couple minutes and put it in drive and it acted like the emergency brake was on, would not move until I kept feeding in fuel then it went like normal. I was in my normal parking place on hard pack dirt and it seem to shift normal driving to work, any ideas? I don't use the emergency brake either??????

did the engine feel loaded or did it just free wheel like in nuetral? sounds like the converter drained and it took a while to fill.

Tq

Chances are the torque converter drained back down into the pan. If you put the transmission in Neutral, this will refill the TQ. This is why you check your fluid level in neutral as well. The only other thing it may have been was a "third gear start"... . not a good thing. Good luck!

Thanks for the help! It is working fine now but I only drive 45 mph for 5 miles to work.

Only thing that bothers me is when I first got it and it had like 1000 miles I towed a 25' camper 300 miles to hunt and it jerked really bad going up any hills with TH on or off and CC on or off. Felt like towing an old uhaul trailer with the shock tongue thing but it only did it going up hills. Would that be TC too? No codes and it has not done it since and I tow the same camper and a 32 ft. toyhauler all over, and I just turned 10K miles

Auto Transmission

The same experience with my auto trans. After sitting over nite and starting the engine the next morning, the truck would not move when placed in drive. I had read previously on this website about shifting into neutral and within a few seconds good to go. I drove it in this manner for a few months and knowing this is not the norm i left it at the dealers over nite so they could experience my complaint. They removed the trans. and repaired it and when I asked what the problem was the mechanic said he did not know because when diassembling the trans. the parts just fell out. This was done on warrenty but since he worked on it I have the same problem several others do on this website which is faulty shifting into park. I dont want their half *** job they offer of an alarm when it is not locked in park. I want the job done right. Why cant they fix these transmissions like all the other transmissions in the world that lock in park when placed there. Are we supposed to accept this kind of faulty engineering crap!!!!!!!!!! 05 Laramie 4x4 leather, auto, dark red pearlcoat, loaded

if memory serves me correct it is a check valve that goes out and allows the fluid to drain back into the pan. also without running an aftermarket valvebody, the pump does not circulate fluid in park, so the converter never fills back up till you shift gears. It is also my understanding that some of the aftermarket valvebodies have been modified to flow fluid while in park.

That's the way I understand it, too, Lloyd. I used to have the same problem when my transmission was stock. Now it's no longer an issue.
