last Sat. I ran my truck into the side of a Suburban. Extensive front end body damage; axle brace bent; trans cooler, oil cooler and radiator damaged; transfer case and shaft look allright; axle on drivers side front may be bent.

Frame rail may be bent toward the passenger side and down on drivers side. Here's my question:

The insurances states that without frame work, the estimate is at $12,000 in damage. The framework may be an additional $4500. How would I be able to keep my truck and get it fixed. Has anyone had an accident of they type that can offer me some help on how to get the insurance company to not total the truck and/or if they total the truck-how to buy it back from the insurance company and get it fixed again.

Thank you

bbbdiesel, I wrecked my 1991. 5 in '95. Frame bent, front end wiped off. If you want to keep it ,YOU tell them what YOU want! If you are forceful they will listen. I dont know what year your rig is or if you have done any mods. There are advantages to letting it go and using that money to buy another truck. No after repair headaches that you thought were fixed but were not ,but you signed off on the repairs and now its your baby. PS. If you do decide to get it fixed make sure the repair shop is VERY REPUTABLE!. You must do the frame first before all the other stuff is repaired. That impact shock may cause you to loose your injector pump? I lost mine about 10,000 miles after the accident and had signed off on the repairs! Dont let the INS. CO. LOW BALL you on the value of your truck. RESEARCH and CONFRONT! GregH.

Truck is a 2000 TD 5 speed, quad cab SB with 92000 miles. Just bought all new upgrades, exhaust, intake, edge comp, skyjacker front springs to level truck w/ bilstien shocks, pillar mount gauge kit, vulcan fuel line lift pump kit. all still in boxes in the basement. Just heard from insurance and they will settle for 18083. salvage cost 3000 and 500 deductable. total repair estimate is 12750 and they did not look under the hood yet.

Would you buy back and repair????? I want to but just don't know??

Bbbdiesel, Your Insurance Company Is Being Very Fair On The Salvage Value Of 3000. 00. For That Amount I Would Buy Back. You Can Always Sell Motor, Trans, Other Parts For That Amount If You Decide Not To Fix. I Fix Repairables And Work For An Insurance Company. I Was A Body Man For 11 Years Before Going To Work For An Insurance Company. If You Can Do Some Of The Work Yourself And Just Farm Out The Frame And Paint Work You Will Come Out Ahead. A Properly Repaired Vehicle Is Just That Properly Repaired. You Never Know What You Will Find In The Used Car Market.

Mine was totaled at the end of August mine had 58000 miles and cost to repair was 18K. Needed a total frame replacement. I was paid $26,200 less deductable. Only paid 30k so I felt I was treated fairly.

Damaged to much damage to repair. The engine was hit as well as transfer case, and axle. I'm not going to part out the truck either going to take the cash and get another dodge.
