Dually Fender Flares for 03

So does anyone know when Dodge is going to make a true 4 door pick up truck? The 03 is not really a full size four door truck. Need to have a full size rear bench seat. Sometimes I cannot figure out why Dodge does not really compete with the other guys.

Any ideas? Thanks

I think Dodge is using their heads by not having so many different wheel based trucks. It is true, the 4-door (Quad Cab) Dodge does not have the extra inch or so larger rear seat, but on the other hand it is much shorter when it comes to turning the beast around!

I have the 4-door (Quad Cab) Dodge and recently took a 1200 mile trip with 5 adults inside the cab. No one complained about not having enough room! I might add, that none of the 5 adults were over 180 lbs.

Well as in all things there almost always have to be compromises. I have thought about this same topic and after a close look at my needs anyways, I think they have got it right. My wife drives mine alot and if it was even a few inches longer I think it would be to difficult for her to use in these parking lots nowadays that seem designed for sub compacts only. I had to get the short bed just to get her interested in the thing. And the truth be told it is not as cramped as it looks as I get all three of my young'ins in the back seat no problem. And beleive me if it was cramped at all they would be climbing the walls. I have a Neon so I know. By the way my young'ins could pass for adults, My little 13 year old girl is 5'8", my 17 year old boy is 6'0" and my oldest is 6"3". Long legs are the norm here so I think I can say, though it would be nice to be a bit roomier, I would not want to give up the minimal 6 foot bed or a longer wheel base to get it.

P. S. Anyone know how to get the wife out of this thing so I can drive it once in a while?

I agree that the "short" wheelbase is better to get around with. I have had many compliments from those who have ridden in the back seat and the word is that the '03 is far roomier that the 98. 5 QC that I had previously. The other thing is that fold out floor in the Laramie is well worth getting, it really saves the seats and makes a very stable platform to use for anything from large tools and packages to a comfortable (with a dog bed) place for a large Golden Retriever to ride on. In most cases I think that folks would find the back seats in our trucks quite comfortable.

I've had 6+ footers back there and they were very comfortable. Also our back seat is bigger than 90 of the ones you'll find in cars out there.

The difference between ours and the other guys is so small that it just isn't an issue with most folks.

I may be biased, but I think that the look of our QC's are much better that the crew cabs of the competition. The cab is spacious and well-designed. It just doesn't get any better:D :D .

Dean

Must be biased also as I find the back seat perfect for my needs. Friends have commented that there is more room in the QC then in the back seat of my Jeep GC.

Guess you'll just have to buy another one huh? :D

My boss' grandpa has an '02 1500 w/quad cab. Haven't sat in the back yet, but the rest of the truck is very nice. The steering is MUCH tighter than mine. No wander at all. Four wheel disc brake sure are great! :)

I like my cab, I (6'1") have only rode in the back seat once for about 30 minutes, I would be comfortable in the back for about a two hour trip. The front seat was all the way back.

The true leg room between the GM and Dodge is so minute I don't think most people would be able to tell. The cab and rear door look bigger on the GM but sit down inside and I doubt most people would be able to honestly say the GM has more room.

IMO the Ford does have more room but, it is a Ford and how often do 4 or more 6 footers ever ride in your truck?

Which brings up another point, it is MY truck so I always have plenty of leg room and elbow room, we drive where I want to drive, and how I want to drive.

So the Heck with those in the back seat!

To answer the original question, I've heard that the 2005 model will bring a full size 4 door. And some other cool things some of you will definitly like. ;)

Love the size/versatility of the back seat, just wish it were air conditioned :(

Chevy's had it for a while, not sure about Fords.

except it'll have a cooled egr system with the cummins engine at that point. no one will like that :( [except maybe some enviromentalists who drive them little sub sub compact electric hybrid jobs... ]

Yeah well, like it or not folks will indeed buy the new EGR equipped Cummins if they want the Cummins engine. I know I would.

EGR no choice

What most people do not realize is that an EGR valve engine allows the manufacturer to dial in alot more fuel advance. EGR slows down the combustion process so the engineers can get a more complete burn. Sure there will be more soot in the oil but I am sure better oil grades a better filtration system, by pass system, should take care of that. I go back when they first put EGR on cars in 1973 and everyone shouted it was the end. Look how far cars have advanced. Last late model sports car will run circles around a 60's muscle car. All this late model stuff is complicated, but no one can argue that performance is not back! Just a thought that is all.

Yeah, but ride in a Ford or Chevy with the added inches and you will see the difference. I think Dodge is cutting corners hoping to get two markets with one chassis - well for y money, I will keep my paid for extended cab non quad door truck until Dodge gets smart and builds a true Crew Cab or it falls apart and I give up and buy the competition.

Dodge, are you listening?

I was ready to trade in my two year old truck when you announced the "four door truck in 1998" that turned out to be the "quad cab". A nice improvement but not worth taking a beating on my 96.

Here it is, 5 years later and I'm still waiting.....

Dodge marketing, are you listening? You're losing sales to the competition solely because you do not have a true Crew Cab!

Make it in one color (white), one interior trim level (gray), with two options, Allison automatic clone or 6 speed and single or dual rear wheels.

I bet you can sell every one that the factory can turn out!Oo.

After riding in all three, I hardly noticed the difference between the Dodge and Chevy and I'm 6'2". In the Ford I did however notice the exrta inches. I think the Dodge has more front leg room than they Chevy so if you move the front seats up it really seems to be about the same if not more in the back seat than the chevy. The biggest thing I noticed was how much wider the Dodge and Ford are than the Chevy. My new truck accually has a shorter turning radius than my previous 99 chevy 2500 ext cab, which is very nice when parking or backing a trailer in a tight place. I think the new quad cab is just perfect for my needs.

true most sports cars of today run circles around them older vehicles, but many of them no longer use an egr valve. my 1500 ram with the 4. 7 has no egr valve. most new jap. sports cars do not use egr valves either. they accomplish the same with variable valve timing. they close the exhaust a bit soon to leave some exhaust behind. the new gm inline engines [like in the trailblazer] do not have egr valves. i have no problem with a modern way of intruducing exhaust gasses into the combustion process if it is doing so without an ancent egr valve type system.

Hard to satisfy everyone I guess but they hit it for me. The quad cab is perfect. Get in and out of back seat with out opening front door and not being as long as a bus. I guess Shineel at 7 foot would need more.

My only complaint is short bed being even shorter than previous years. My 1999 short bed was almost too short. I know, get long bed and that is what I will do if I get new one.

I'll sacrifice an inch or two of rear seat room to have THE BEST DIESEL ENGINE on this planet under MY hood... ... ... ... :D
