My wife is giving me a tonneau cover as a late Christmas present. I'm going with the Access or Truxedo. The only major difference that I can see is that the Access has a 45 degree angle on the velcro side rails where the Truxedo has a 90 degree angle.

The Truxedo comes with a life time warranty on "all" parts where the Access doesn't. The color option that the Truxedo offers doesn't come into play being that I'm getting the standard black.

Does anyone have experience with these covers regarding the pro's and con's of the different side rail angles or other observations?

Thanks in advance.

I have never used the tuxedo cover but I have the access cover and it works better than any of the others I have tried. I know a guy that dropped his 5th wheel on the truck bed and he had an access cover on it. When he took it to the body shop they ordered another cover because they thought the rails were bent, well when they unbolted the clamps the aluminum rails went right back to original (straight). This guy now has his three year old access cover for sale. It's not brand new looking but is in real good shape. I bet if someone was to clean the cover it would look almost new.

Truxedo

After speaking to other tonneau owners and searching our own site, I've decided to go with the Truxedo over the Access due to the automatic tensioners and waranty.

Thanks for the replys!

Truxedo

I have a Truxedo on mine. Very nice. The auto tensioner is great and the strength of the cover is awesome.

My buddy is a retailer of the covers and when he put mine on he told me that they can withstand 300 pounds on them. We had a quick discussion on how I thought he was exaggorating and he told me to jump up and down on it, if it broken he would put a new one on. Well it held me ( 210lbs) jumping up and down on it like a trampoline with out a problem. Have had not problems with the cover de-laminating like with other covers I have had. I would reconmend them this cover to anyone. ALso I like how the back rail rolls up with the cover to allow easy access to the bed for taller items and it actually locks down into place at the back.

My 2 cents, any questions feel free to ask.

How well has it held up this winter, and how is the Velcro doing?

Out this way in NJ we've had some snow... ... ..... more than the past few years. I have the Truxedo cover and the Velcro is fine along with the rest of the cover. I have absolutely no complaints with this cover, as it is a extremely well engineered product.

I have had absolutly NO problems with my cover. The velco is great will attach in any weather or temp. Will not loosen, unless I loosen it. The cover remains soft when cold, allowing you to roll and un roll and reattach it at any temp.

I often will un do the back rail and roll it up one roll to haul 8 ft 2x4's and will let the cover and back rail lay on the 2x4's and it stays put, velco does not un-do even at 80 on the highway.

I had over a foot of snow on my cover at one time and had no problems at all. Broomed it off and was ready to go.

I'll never go with another brand of soft tonuea again. Had Extang and Tech By Design covers on my last truck and both were toast after a year and a half each, both out of warranty too.

Hope this helps.

Can't say fairer thn this.

Two and a half years with my Truxedo and it still looks good, holding up strong and the velcro is still solid been in all weathers from 0 degrees F upto 100 degrees F. I have no regrets.
