Anybody running Trxus tires? Just curious how they hold up and what they perform like. I would like to put a set of 255/85/16s on my truck.

I'm pretty sure Oasis-3 has them on his truck. Interco makes an excellent tire. I like the Super Swampers myself, I could get 40000 miles out of a set of 44's rotated at every oil change

Trxus 285's

I bought a set of 285's for my work truck but haven't got them on yet. The Bridgestone dueller mt's that are on there now haven't worn out yet. I got them because they are a E load rating and they were considerably cheaper then BFG's. Not only that, not everyone and their brother has them. :D

PM Oasis-3 he is using them on his truck,,They are used for daily driving an pulling and he is quite fond of them,,Not to mention on how it makes the truck look,,Hes been busy at work but I'm quite certain he'll answer your questions..... Andy

I dont know anyone using them, but would like to get more input myself. Have been looking at these tires for about a year now.

Was only able to find one review on them, and they get a good writeup. Most sites just copied the original sales literature, and dont really say much.

They are supposedly a pretty tough tire w/ siping for the wet & icy roads (big plus for mountain goers), and quiet for a mud style tread. They are supposed to drive fine on road, and last longer than BFG M/T's (which isnt saying much).

The drawback was that they arent as aggressive as a true mud tire, and dont give as good traction in the soft stuff as some others.

Im trying to decide between Dunlop Mud Rovers, BFG Muds, Trxus, or Super Swamper RSX (?). Have been learning that the super swampers are supposed to be a top notch tire, as well as the pro comps.

Will probably end up either w/ the Dunlops, BFG, or SS, probably the BFG's since they seem to be the tire everyone else is comparing theirs to... sound familiar? Yep Cummins. Cant go wrong.

Trxus

ScottB I have a set of Trxus on my truck. About 30,000 miles and I just put a new set on the front saved one for my spare. I will replace the rear set at the end of summer as they are just over half worn out I had to replace the front set after I had one come apart on a trip to Maine Towing a street rod from PA. I have alot of high speed highway miles on the tires and they have been good, not noisy at all compared to the Cummins :D I have never been stuck in snow or mud I have pulled a few trucks out including a rollback stuck in my yard after dropping off my shed.

I have looked at going from the 285's to 35's but the 285's are 10ply and I do tend to be hard on them from time to time Just yesterday I pulled a wood chipper that would eat 18" logs and had an 4cyl. Diesel on the front this thing pushed the back of my truck down 6 to 8 inches it was heavy. I will buy them again.

Hope this helps

Cliff

Oasis, Nice report.

Thats kind of scary that you had one fly apart on you though. Thats not good odds, 1 out of 4 blowing.

Also read a post on a 4x4 site about some guy losing 2 or three in one year. . all out in the boonies. I had kinda chalked his off to abuse, but hearing about another one doesnt sound good.

They advertise 10ply for 285's, and on paper it sounds good. Not sure yet about how they are in the real world.

Dont seem to hear about BFG's coming apart much, and they are all over the place. Some do, but theres usually a good story behind it.

4-wheel parts sells them here in southern cali for about 140 a peice.

4wheelparts, Desert Rat, or National Tire

Blampright,

I think there is a 4wheelparts store there in SLC but it is cheaper to get them mail order. I bought mine from them, which I will never do again due to a disagreement on an atv winch, but I have been treated well by Desert Rat. National tire and wheel is in WV so a little steep for shipping.

Trxus

Shortshift

The tire has a lot of rubber on it and it must hold heat so if you do alot of heavy halling you don't want this tire. But if you drive in and out a half mile driveway of dirt and mud with 2 hills that will dump water out of your beer cooler like we have at our camp

"The Oasis" you may want a tire like this.

The things that sold me on this tire is 10 ply. Good grip and cheep price $125 to $150

I had Mud Kings on my 96 Dodge diesel and had to buy 4 a year so far it looks like 2 a year for the Trxus

Thanks

Cliff

Brian the set on the rear have 30,000 miles on them and should be good for 15,000 more, to be safe I will replace them at the end of summer. It's fun to have the grip and power to pull 2 Stuck trucks at a time up the hill at "The Oasis" :D

Cliff

I just ordered a set of these from 4wheelparts.com last night. They have the 255/85-16 for cheap and if you order before April 26th you get free shipping on them. I think its a great deal on a 33in tire. Right now I have 285/75-16 and I want to go narrower. Its cheaper anyway, so should be good.

Nate

Nate,

Sorry bud, I forgot to mention that it is cheaper to mail order than to do it on the internet. Even though they have free shipping they charge you about 80 bucks for handling. What a joke huh? The prices for my tires were cheaper by mail order and even paying shipping they were cheaper than the internet. The have been doing that free shipping BS for over 4 months now. That is just part of the reason I will never buy from them again.

Nathan

Thats ok, they did charge a $15. 00 handling fee for the tires, thats $15. 00 total not per tire. Still its an excellent price for the 4 tires, best I've seen.

I ordered mine tonight from 4wheelparts. It was free shipping if ordered before Friday and it was $15 handling for all of them

I ordered 5 of them... So I would have a full size spare.

Mike

A buddy of mine just bought some 35's for his truck. We live about an hour from the super swamper dealer in Rayne, LA. I called them and they told me $131. 53 per tire for 285/75/16E. That price included mounting and balancing. Seems like a good price for a short drive. :p

I have always had either bridgestone Dueler M/T's or BF Goodwrench M/T's. He loves the swampers, especially in the mud. They aren't too loud on the highway. I don't know how long they will last. They seem to be a well made tire. They are also about $50 a tire cheaper than the last set of Duelers I bought.
