For those of you who haven't stepped up to the big exhaust.
I have decided from what I have read and heard, that the factory exhaust is acceptable up to at least 400rwhp.
So, I chose to spend my money on getting to that level instead of $600. 00 exhaust systems.
Now, we all have heard that the '03 straight piped didn't produce an acceptable sound ... ... . and I agree after doing just that.
Here is what I tried instead.
I took the pipe back out where the OE muffler used to sit.
Took the OE muffler (big enough to hold 10 gallon of fuel) and cut the end off of it in a 10" horizontal band saw.
Torched the baffles (4 pass) out of the shell and welded the end back on making a hollow tank.
I now have a very unique chambered, resonated sound with plenty of turbo whistle that I like and so do others.
It'll never be the "beller" that the old CTD made, but I like it and it cost no more than time.
