Trying to convince Centerline to make us an 18x8

toyo has open country 285/75/18s that are about 35 inches tall in A/T and M/T that i think would look perfect on our trucks with about 5. 5 inches of back spacing. but no one makes a wheel that doesn't push the tires into the next lane.



centerline makes an 18x9 with 5. 25 back space but i fear that width would look too weird on a 285 tire even though it's within specs of the tire. btw, i'd be inerested to see a picture of that set up if any one has it... .



do you guys with 285s think they'd look right on a 9 inch wide wheel with 5. 25back space?? it is afterall only a half inch wider.



i'm trying to convince centerline to make an 18x8 with something close to 5. 5 back spacing. i want a wider look but 4. 5 back space is too much and 6 inches is too little... or vice/versa.



i'm posting to see what you all think and get you to let centerline know if you think that size would sell. they are talking to me about it. i think A LOT of dodge guys would buy this wheel.

The ideal width for 285 tires is 8. 5” rim, but can be put on up to a 10” Rim. 9” is definitely OK.

With a 9” wide rim and 5. 5” backspacing you'll put the tire out quite a bit from stock, will sit 1. 5” out plus a little more with the bigger tire. An 18x8 with 6” backspace is a better way to go.

I would consider looking for a 20” tire that has the diameter you want, Centerline has several 20x8. 5” rims with 6. 0” backspacing.
