I am trying to install the winter front cover for the first time. My question is; How do I attach the four clips to the lower edge of the grill? I cannot get the clips fed back between the grill and the bumper. I found a youtube video, but they don’t mention or show those. Thanks

Hey welcome to the TDR. I don’t know what gen truck you have (please make a sig- more info the better) but I have a ‘04 3 gen, and mine gives no trouble. I just loop the holes over the hood bumpers and let it drop down behind the bumper. I don’t use any of the clips.

I use the four clips that attach to the sides of the grill and the elastic hooks on the top. I stuff the extra flap on the bottom between the grill and bumper and let it hang behind the bumper. I do not attach anything to the bottom of the grill.

thanks for the replies, the truck is a 2016 3500. I did try to add it to my profile so i hope it will show up. The 4" paint roller frame looks like a great idea. I will try that this morning. -1 degrees this morning so it is time to get the cover on

Toot,

Attached is a PDF copy of the instructions that came with the winter front for my truck. Maybe it’ll help.

I just installed my winter front for the first time and the only trouble I had were the clips that run along the left and right edges of the grille. I clipped them onto the grille above the headlights and then pushed them down to their proper positions with a stick, sliding them along the edge of the grille. The paint roller frame may have worked, but I don’t have one.

The only thing at the bottom is the row of five snaps that attach the bottom flap to the underside of the bumper. I had to pull pretty hard to stretch the fabric enough to get the outside snaps to line up but it finally worked. I smeared a tiny bit of oil onto the snap surfaces with a Q-tip and the snaps went on fairly easily.

Good luck,
– Loren

Its tight fit but they will go.This year was really easy as I used a Genos Garage quick release grill kit . It takes about 10 seconds to remove the grill after this modification..Put the cover on the grill and reinstalled it snapped the bottom clips. Check this mod out its easy to do and allows quick access to coolers for cleaning and changing headlights. You can now stand on the bumper to service stuff under the hood.

I will second the Genos quick grill release kit didn't think of taking it out to put the blankie on. The first year was a pain second year it even went over the front lincese plate and frame.

Are you installing the Covercraft winter front or Mopar winter front? Does Genos sell the OEM cover?

Thanks,

FYI on my 17 there are only 3 snaps instead of 5. I use a plastic interior trim tool to push the bottom clips on. Works like a charm.

I take the grill completely off (4 bolts and 2 push pins). Bring it inside and install the winter front. Take the grill outside and push the long flap for the bottom behind the front bumper and downward. I do this because I don't like having the winterfront material rub on the bumper chrome all winter with grit and salt eating at the finish.
