How Heavy can I go?

Hi all:

I have put a few posts on here about starting an expediting service, I appreciate all the help and input! Still looking at all the trucking options available, whether to go class 6 or what not.

How would you all tackle this:

Hauling Newsprint from Texas to OKC, KC, Denver, Houston, and maybe St. Louis. Total tare weight of product shipped is topped at 13,000lbs. Obviously being Newsprint it must be enclosed in a van. Product palletized and pallet weights shouldnt exceed 400 per and are stackable.

Could I get me a 3500, a 48 Enclosed GN triple with ramp door and keep her under 26,000 and run legal? Wells Cargo has a 48' rated @ 20,000 GVWR and truck would be 8,500#, to high. How could I make this work and be legal or just left alone to do my thing?

You need to go with a Class 6 rig, and maybe a Cummins 8. 3.

The load deck height of that gooseneck trailer will not match up with any customer loading docks out there, creating a big problem trying to get those pallets on or off.

Staying under 26K only saves you from needing a CDL and paying IFTA. You still have to do commercial ins, authority, cross scales etc. . Might as well buy a truck better suited to the job.
