I have a rear brake squeal, talked with a tech. at the dealer and he said to first try and back it up a few times with the parking brake on taking the glaze off the rears and it should get rid of the squeal for awhile. Well that didn't work :) I noticed the above mentioned TSB in the latest TD Register and my truck seems to fit based on what the TSB shows. My question is how do you get the dealer to perform the TSB? This one states that they should put on new (revised) rear brake pads. Do I need to let them figure it out? Do I call them and say here is what my truck is doing and here is the TSB to fix it? What is best based on your experence? I have a 5 year diesel wrap warrenty, but doesn't Dodge pay for the TSB fixes?

Yes Dodge PAYS for TSB associated repairs. Let them know what the problem is and make them aware that you are aware of a TSB that may cover this problem.

My Brake sqeal is driving me up the wall

Is there a cure?

I took the drum off last weekend and sandpapered the brake pad

still squeals

Maybe I should take my own advice and call Sam Peterson

Don't go with Carbon/Kevlar pads then.......

They stop great but make all sorts of noise.

The adjusters on these trucks don't seem to work. Jack up the back end and have someone turn the tire while you adjust. Get it to just rub then do the other side. Once they're properly seated it should kill the squeal. It took three adjustments to get mine right. So after the first time don't be afraid to do it again.

Mine want to squeel slightly on my 97, & sometimes they want to grab a little. When I rotate the tires, I look at the brakes, & dump all the powder & dust out of the drum. thanks seems to take care of it for a while. I think if there was a way for that crud to get out of the drum, it would help. My rear brakes are the originals still, with almost 160k. Might make it through the summer & change them.

My dealer says that the TSB is only free if that part of the truck is still covered under warranty. Who do I call to confirm this as being true or false??
