OK heres the deal ... Brand new truck ... 3000km and the dealer tells me that I may need over $8000 in repairs to the particulate filter side of the engine.

Anyone know whats the deal ?

ANYONE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS?

Thay also tell me I need 18-003-007 REV B software update. The update is for excessive soot in the exhaust..... in 3000km... WTF

Some help shed some light on this issue... ... . PLEASE... :{

I am ready to drive to D/C head office and light the MF on fire on the front lawn..... #@$%!

Is the Dealer saying that YOU have to pay for the repairs? If so, that is wrong and the warranty should cover what ever the problem is.

What do you mean by "the particulate filter side of the engine"? Are you saying the exhaust system from the manifold on back? or the engine block and components themselves?

Apparently the new Chrysler Customer Service policy is to deny any and all warranty work unless you get a lawyer to force them to do what their warranty contract states. I guess they figure people won't go that far.

The dealer is going to fix the problem . . but why are we doing the R&D for d/c

They are going to fix the diesel particulate filter on the exhaust manifold and all from there to the tail #@$%!pipe.

Maybe you should go buy a ford and see how much better they are :-laf

The TSB is for the latest version of software, it does not necessarily mean that you have excessive soot in the exhaust system, it includes improved metrics in regards to how the system (engine and aftertreatment) deals w/ soot. And, one of the fixes in the latest software addresses P245A which relates to the EGR Exhaust Bypass Valve.

But, you say that you need $8k in repairs so, what was the initial problem? Do you know what the dealer did (or say they did) to troubleshoot your truck?

BTW, the DPF is not near or on the exhaust manifold... . after the turbo there is a catalyst, some pipe, then another catalyst (to absorb NOx), this is connected to the DPF, the muffler follows all of this.

I had a handful of 245a codes, and the tsb for excessive soot, then the latest flash. Knock on wood it seems to cured the 245a code. :rolleyes:

I thought the dpf had the catalyst, dpf unit and sensors all built into one unit, then the muffler? The one on my buddy's '07 3500 6-speed 6. 7L is that way. It is an early 6. 7L if that makes any difference?

There are two kinds of aftertreatment setups, depends on what kind of 6. 7 (pickup vs. cab chassis) you have. The cab chassis aftertreatment is as you describe, everything in one unit. The pickups are as I describe, and I saw that pipeguy has a 2500, therefore he has a pickup.

While the engines in the pickups and cab chassis are both 6. 7's they are not completely identical, same goes for the aftertreatment.

When they replace all the parts that are necessary they will then replace the 02 emissions sensor module on the frame and do a recall repair called G30. That covers ALL the flash updates to date.
