Just got call from dealer they want to install this TSB #18-0074-04. I have to pay for it. I have 99,500 miles on it. They said it is a 3/36 warranty issue. STAR told them they have to install this before they go any further. It is at the dealer for this:http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150832

I think me paying for it is a crock, what do you think? $200. Let me know, I told them OK.

They also said only the motor hard parts is covered under the 100k waranty.

its probably TSB-18-007-04 At the bottom of this link you will see it pays . 8 hours. Take there labor rate X . 8 and tell me what it should really cost. In the past I worked for Plymouth and recall the service company getting in trouble for charging more time then the factory allowed, even for cash tickets. That's why the dealer charges more per hour, because they charge factory times.

I would expect to have this covered under the Power train warrantee, or maybe some emissions warrantee, not sure about the 100K cummins warrantee.

Since you modified your truck's fueling why would you expect D/C to give you warranty coverage on that part of your system?Bob

Sorry BOB4x4 I know you work for a dealer, Had the same similar problem on a update the TSB for the overhead/mileage/wht smoke problem, the dealer wanted to doink me also as a non warranty item ,I sucked up to them and they covered it under warranty ,I felt if I didn't work em' enough they would of done the same thing, I agree with TOWPRO with the . 8 hrs per the TSB , granted if he caused it then he should pay but at least get a complimentary reach around.

Don

The tsb is no big deal, but if he's had a box on for a long time odds are good he will need more... ... ..... Hope for the best and cross your fingers. These 3rd gen fuel systems are just not as robust as I would like, so I have kept my ole dependable 12v. So I know I will always have 1 w/out any problems :-laf

If you have done any serious diagnostics on the Common rail you would know they are time consuming and everything is restricted :(

So far so good. No miss in motor. We will see in the morning. Paid $88. 00 for reflash by the way. Oh, and Bob4x4, I only had the Quad on less than a year with relatively few wide open runs.
