2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tsb 19-10-97

Has anyone performed the steering gear pre-load TSB 19-10-97?? http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1997/19-10-97.htm What a pain in the a**ss. I have had a persistant problem with steering wander and I have been trying to eliminate the possible sources one by one. This one seems to have made a big differance but I need to get a trailer on to be sure. ANYWAY... don't attempt this without a 3/16 spanner wrench. It is nearly impossible to turn the adjusting nut without one. Mine was WAY out of adjustment, but was nearly frozen and VERY difficult to turn. I got about 1/4 turn out of it, I hope this cures my wander...

I haven't adjusted the pre-load, but I did adjust the nut on the top of the box. Made a little difference. Check your track bar and take a look at getting one of Darin's Steering Stabilizers. Made my truck drive better than new, even with my slide-in loaded on the back of my truck. Sweet looking '56.
