Anybody running Interco TSL Super Swamper radials have problems with the tread coming apart? I installed these last July and within 2,000 miles had one tire lose a whole tire lug from the casing. It was replaced under warranty, but now I'm having the same problem with two other tires. It started with a cut in the tread and then the tread is coming away from the tire casing. I ordered these as a package from 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers in Compton, CA. , which included a free road hazard warranty. I haven't done any real off-roading, and only have about 10,000 miles on these tires. I called Interco Friday, and got some guys voicemail. I'm pissed $235 a tire, and the tread is supposed to be the toughest part of the tire. In my 23 years of driving, I've never had this happen with any set of tires ever. Any input appreciated. I will let you guys know what happens. Thanks, -Glen

Glen, I haven't had any problem. I have 15000 miles on mine. I do off road alost every week. I do interstate travel about 360 miles a week. A few burn outs here and there. I watch the tread closely because of wear. I show little wear (less than 1/8") I have two big gashes from tree limbs. See if Doug at National Wheel and Tire can help. TSL has a website also. I feared something like that happening to me.

Stack'd-n-Jack'd, Thanks for the info. Keep an eye on those gashes. Hopefully you'll have better luck. 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers is sending me two new tires, and once they get the old tires back to inspect they will credit me the price of the tires. The only thing I don't like is they're talking about pro-rating the tires. Sounds like I'm going to get hosed this time. I'm gonna call Interco again tomorrow and see what they say. My left rear tire seems to wearing more than the other three, go figure. -Glen

I had one set of Swampers, and am still sorry I bought 'em! They were too heavy, loud, and shaped like an egg more than a tire! Everyone I talked too said the tread separates on heavy trucks like ours and towing. I went with the Ground Hawg radials and so far, so good. They ride good for a big tire, and are pretty quiet on the road. Denman tire told me they would be fine for towing heavy loads, max load 3160 per tire, max presure 35psi. Four Wheel parts sells 'em, maybe they'll swap you out. I think you'll like the tires.

Seems to me that those tires are the TSL SX series. I was afraid that some of us would have problems with the swampers in being that the majority of Swampers are only a 6-ply rating with the exception of the TSL 33x12. 50x16. 5 and 36x12. 50x16. 5 have an 8-ply rating for trucks such as ours.

None of the SX series or the Radials have the 8-ply rating, only the regular TSL do.

The only other option may be to run a set of the TSL Thornbirds in which they have the thickest sidewall construction of any D. O. T. approved tire that I've witnessed and just the shipping weight will let you know how heavy duty this tire is. Not sure about the ply rating.

There is an add in FOURWHEELER magazine that says there are new 35" and 38" Thornbird sizes. I'm gonna call to get the details tomorrow morning.

Gents, Thanks for the replies. Hemi@Dart, yes those are TSL Super Swamper radials, the tires I have. They are 6 ply tires, but have a load rating of 2980 lbs. -Glen

"High" to all,

I called National Tire&Wheel this morning because they were the ones advertising the "Call for pricing" on the the new 35"&38" Thornbird sizes. A salesman said that they don't even know what the sizes or the prices will be because Interco hasn't even release any info to them.

What kind of advertising gimmick is this? All I can say is that it pissed me off to the point of not doing any more buisness with them. It's not the first time that they've been clueless of their own advertisements. Just plain bad buisness.
