Hey guys, I just got done installing a tst #10 on my 97' 3500 5spd and i noticed a big drop in low end performance, The truck doesnt really get into the power until like 1700-1800 rpms but then its off like a rocket. I think i have the afc housing all the way forward, but im not sure. I turned the starwheel away from the engine, it got worse. Turned it all the way toward the engine, it got alittle better. Im not getting any bottom end smoke, it smokes pretty good once the boost comes in. Im not really sure if I did something wrng or if thats the nature of the beast. Thank you in advance.

Andy

p. s. -there was oil on the stock fuel plate and in afc housing, is that normal?

I have the #5 plate but I followed Jim's advice and set the governor arm just above the nose which really made a difference on low end response.

The instructions say to set it at the tip and that a little below is OK.

The tip of the bottom nose on the TST #5 and my original Banks plates are both rounded to a very small radius. I don't know anything about the #10.

Mine was hitting the bottom curve of the tip and I changed it to hit the top of the curve, which means that I probably only moved the arm up about 1/16th of an inch but It made a big change in the way the truck takes off.

Getting the rubber boot tucked back under the clamp at the turbo outlet made another dramatic change.

ok I will adjust the governor arm, it should be at the bottom point of the half moon shape on the fuel plate correct? Thanks, Andy

Andy, the 10 is totally different than any other plate because you can do so much adjustment, but for the most part if you will go by the instructions and put it just above the nose of the plate it will be great, if you get too high it will come on quicker and de-fuel quicker.
