I ordered the TST #11 plate and the AFC spring kit. Is it always necessary to install the spring kit with the #11 plate? Any chance the #11 plate will work o. k. without the spring kit?

('97 manual transmission)

Since racing cars I have learned the hard way to only CHANGE ONE THING AT A TIME. I thought I would install the #11 plate, road test it and adjust it to it's best possible position. Once I was satisfied with the engine operation, I would install the spring kit. any opinions?

The plate's proper position is stock. FArther back makes less power and farther forward gives too high egt under full power. The afc spring just enables you to get max responsiveness at low boost with minimum smoke. The rocker isn't even touching the plate under those conditions, and these things have been worked out years ago. You need not worry about doing only one thing at a time when you are treading a well-known path like this one. You will like the results :D
