I finally did it , Piers Diesel has a special on the TST cam plates: $225! Pretty good price and Piers was very helpful in choosing the right one for my application, not to mention an awesome price. To all of you who have one, how do you like 'em, and does it work well without doing other mods? I don't want to get too radical, still have stock clutch and 5spd, and of course there's the infamous 5th gear nut which hasn't stripped yet... ... ..... :( .

any comments are appreciated,

Paul

Like it? You will wonder what took you so long to make up your mind to get one!:D You will be grinning down the road like the rest of us. :D:D:D

#6 rocks. Even though mine came with a Banks kit it is the same. I installed mine in the stock position, truck changed from a slug to a racer in a couple hours.

Does this mean that I'll have to tow at 80 mph instead of 70? LOL

I just want to smoke my buddies new Duramax(he's only towing 11,000 lbs! He passed me on a hill last year:mad: !

TST #8 FROM Piers!!!

I recently installed a new #8 plate from Piers also for $225. 00 and I don't know how I got along before it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So far I only use it when going up hills as fast as I can stand due to having a stock auto transmission that I wanted all shifted before putting the coals to it... LOVE IT!!!!Herb:D :D :D

I just put in the 370's. Would my (stock) cluch live with a 280hp plate and injectors?

Could I slide it back enough to make it work?

Need mo power. :D

Eric

Patriot, I guess it depends on your driving style and what you pull. You can control it with your right foot. I can tell you that a #10 plate and the 370's will eat your clutch fro dinner if your not careful. I can control it though. I run empty 95% of the time. When I pull my boat, I'm just real careful with it. I do need a clutch to realize the full power of the engine, but the stocker is holding with a little right foot control. It ain't as fun though. :D :)

Clutch carnage !!!

I'll add this,,I've got the parts pile to show you what a #10 plate, correct installation, timing and a rev kit can do to both a stock clutch and one of Centercrap's 800 ft lb rated units can do,,Hate to see what a set of good tipped 370's would have done, maybe the pieces would have been smaller,,So Patriot my answer to your question is this, yes it MAY live for a day, but, once the plate is installed and the loud pedal is stomped hard for the first time better plan on calling for a better clutch and get prepared,,It'll be needed soon enough, trust me you'll see... ... ...

TST #10

So what is a #10 rated at power wise, what kinda boost will it make with stock injectors? Also what needs to go with it(DD's), I was thinking a housing to get rid of some heat.

Jim (DTT stuff is the next mod)

This is a little hard to read because this forum bungles tabs. This chart is somewhere on TST's web site.

Patriot,

My truck and yours are nearly identical. I have the Bully Dog version of TST's # 11 plate (in for a year) and put in the 370's and 4 inch exhaust this summer. Stock clutch still, but it's only a matter of time. Hopefully it will get me through till spring.

so the lower the plate # the higher the power. . hummn i have a ve44 now so i always thought it was the opposite. . im looking for a manual 12v p7100 truck now. . so soon i will be playing with the plates hehehe . . so a #6 and the 370 prince of darkness injectors would really rock huh?. . what kind of #'s

plate is in, bring on the Duramax!!!

Got the plate installed last weekend, now when I mash the throttle, it MOOOOVES! EGT's max out at around 1250 pre turbo, and boost maxes out about 30 psi(before the friggin' boost gauge took a crap, that is). So far, no clutch slippage, but I'm towing the boat today , and then we'll see how the beast does:D :D !
