Super cool the air charge

New exhaust loud

DOWN THE TRACK FRI NIGHT AND NOTICED WHEN RACING ABOUT A 1/4 OF THE WAY DOWN THE 1/4 MI I GET A BIG BURST OF POWER? IS THAT HOW THIS BOX WORKS?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW

DINO

Thats your turbo fully spooled up and full fuel flowing into the cylinders-you should be in second gear getting ready to shift into 3rd if its an auto.

Tst

It would help if you had it stacked with an EZ. The tst only does fuel,so has a little lag on bottom end. But that is normal for that box.

Id say thats normal for the TST box, like was mentioned ,stack it with an EZ or buy a drag comp box if your looking for all out power.

Actually, this may have been true at one point in time, however we've tried four different stacks (2 ETC, 2 ETH) this year, and none have worked. In October, TST changed their program to be a little more aggressive on timing (I won't post exact numbers, as they may be proprietary). It appears as though the EZ timing, stacked with the TST's timing, is too much for the amount of fuel that the TST box is putting out. We noticed a definite decrease in bottom end power, increased smoke, and up to 4 PSI loss in boost at the top end. Perhaps stacking with something less aggressive on timing, such as a DD box will still work, but quite frankly, its cheaper to buy the TST PM3 Competition version and be done with it.

RSnaith, if there is a trade in program at TST,then i would agree with you. Otherwise if not id sell the TST outright, and get a drag comp. These motors as you know are torque engines, the drag comp takes better advantage of this, and has much better low end/mid range power than a wire tap only box like the PM3. He's looking to reduce his 1/4 ET and has huge tires,IMO the Drag Comp is the best bang both for the buck, and for power. Not to mention the low speed smoke /fueling adjustments that are only avaliable on the comp box, these are a lifesaver once you have big injectors.

We actually sell both the TST and Edge products out of our shop, and find both to be excellent choices. As of the last version of the TST box, and version 7 of the Comp, we've found that the TST's heavier fueling parameters give it a superior bottom end power to the Edge box (this wasn't always the case). Peak power seems to be a wash, with the TST box doing better on load test dynos, while the Edge product performs better on inertial dynos. For the max HP guys, we heavily recommend the TST product as the heavier fueling also lends itself very well to big injector crowd, as does the slightly lower timing advance. The Edge box, due its to larger timing increase, will tend to generate power with a little less heat, and as you mentioned, it also has the adjustable aggression levels which come in handy.

The TST PM3 can also be upgraded to the Competition version for about 50 bucks and the cost of shipping. Awful cheap for another 40 ponies and unmatched bottom end power.

Thanks for the info, the newer boxes are quite an improvement then. If he can upgrade for that money than thats the way to go.

Hey Snowman,

You think that Drag Comp is nice! It is!

You ought to try a Custom programmed Edge Comp!

Even more fun!

Justin, I am aware of the custome boxes,I am also aware that we are walking a fine line with reguards to pump life/reliability. I dont want a VP44 eater, either. I would like an extra few hundred RPM more than Id like extra fuel. Im running out of RPM with 4. 10 gears at the end of the 1/4 mi. That is the only changes id like to make at this point. If i could fuel hard to 3600,like a 12V Id be :D :D .

Mike, how long have you had it programmed that way,and how many times have you actually used that RPM range. Have you seen any side effects from using that RPM range,(besides EGTS). I am pretty sure Egde can do the same thing with the comp box,Im just not sure I want to risk pump life for it.
