i've been thinking that i want the tst powermax but one of my big questions is why doesn't the diesel power mag ever advertise much of their products or talk about them? They all talk about banks and edge and bully dog but why not tst? Other question is, is tst the best chip to get. How is bully dog it seems that they are coming more and more into the diesel world i guess you could say. Edge is ok i guess and banks is just way expensive. Anyway in your guys opinion, which chip would be the best? TST is pretty expensive to but is it worth it?

I have had my TST installed on both vehicles now. I wouldnt choose any other box... well except for maybe the new Smarty. But its not out yet!!!! (wink wink)

1) its all about who wants to pony up the $$ to get in the magazine... Mark Chapple (owner of TST) is not a big flashy / advertising guy, IMO - He just lets the product speak for itself...

2) There is a reason that I would estimate 4 out 5 3rd gen trucks over 550hp are using the TST PowermaxCr... Why? Cause then the moneys on the table and the chips are down, The TST brings the power. PERIOD

I have tried Edge(Juice, HOT Juice, EZ), Dr Performance(Stage II), Quad(Race Box), Bully Dog Triple Dog(w/CL) and TST PowerMaxCR.

The TST PowerMaxCR w/twins is my primary performance box and I doubt that will ever change.

TST may be pretty $$ but it will be the best money you will ever spent. Plus it is a box that your truck can grow into if you do more mods down the road

I had a edge hot juice on my 05' and i have a tst on my 04'. Hands down the 04' has sooooooo much more power. With 20K miles on the stock clutch the tst would slip it on 3/5 with ease.

Magazines always kiss up to their advertisers. Banks, Edge, and Bully Dog are huge marketing machines.

Like Tomeygun says, Mark at TST lets the product speak for itself.

The TST is the best box available IMO. You will never outgrow it, but grow into it.

I've been down the road of trying everything else. I always come back to the TST.

It's not cheap to get a PMCR, but in the end it's a lot cheaper when you buy the right box in the first place.

If you need more bottom end, get it flashed with a Twins program. If you need even more, stack it with a MP-8. It really isn't necessary, though, as the TST alone will drain your fuel rail.

I have a TST PMCR. I love it but it does have a downside like tires transmission and black soot on the back bumper..... LOL

i have used the powermax on my '99, then a powermax2, a powermax3 on my 2001, and now the powermax cr on the '03.

The pmcr has as much power as you want

You'll need a Stage 1 or 2 CP3 if you're running injectors that big.

The TST works really well with 40hp injectors and the stock pump. Bigger sticks require more fuel if you want to turn the TST up to it's potential.

You still might be able to use the TST, but don't get the early twins flash. Way too much fuel too soon.

now the tst will produce just how much more black smoke on my 05 w/o my cat on there. I like and want lots more black smoke. But from the sound of it it looks like tst is the way to go. And i guess you get what you pay for right? Thanks for the input guys. Oh one more thing. The tst also will improve gas mileage so long as i have it on the right power setting right?

You'll see increased mileage, especially on setting 1x0 (timing only).

Smoke? No problem with a TST, especially with one of the Twins flashes. Don't get a twins flash with a stock turbo, though. It won't last.

Sorry to hi-jack but I just have one question. I have a 04. 5 , is the TST box the same from 2003/2006. When I go on the TST site to order it ask me if my truck is :2003/2004 or 2004. 5/2005 or 2006. I'm looking at buying a used one and it is listed as 2003/2005 ?? Will it work on my truck ??

the issue is wastegate control - I would call TST for 100% verification

I had the TST on my 2004. 5, and removed it when I sold the truck. I'm putting it on my 2006, called TST and they said just the injector harness was different ($85). Harness on the way!

Very pleased with the TST performance, usually left it on 3/3 settings all the time. Picked up another 1 mpg average over stock.
