I guess my question could encompass users of other fueling boxes, but mostly those using a TST with out a remote.

Say I am motating down the road checking out the scenery and for some reason, like a Ford ahead of me doing like . 2 MPH less than I am, I decide to pass. I pull over into the oncoming lane and just as I pull even with the Ford the drivers heads pops off the steering wheel and he speeds up. There is 17 Semi's barrelling down on me and I am not about to give up now. Now I am at ramming speed making 35 psi of boost and I reach down and turn on the TST which is set to level 7.

Turning on the TST, good idea or not? :) (I mean the effect on my engine parts)

Thanks in advance;

Jim

I have a Smarty and would like some info. on TST.

I have not seen adds-specs. or dealers, just posts like yours saying you have Smarty/TST.

Thanks for any help on this.

love it !! cant say enough! i got the remote set up, fairly easy install . just set smarty and dial the power! watch egts/over boost if stock turbo.

I've never turned the TST on while at full boost but I've turned it on running 4 or 5 pounds going down the highway... you instantly feel the power change and that's about it... nothing violent about it.

If you're going to pass that Ford, just turn the TST on before you put your foot through the floor boards... leave no doubt.

According to TST's website you can turn it on at any load/speed and it should be safe. Sounds like just what the doctor ordered!!

Yeah... . That is what I generally do, but I was just going through kind of a "what if" and I have be leary of trying it out. But typically, the M4's give me all the oomfph I need and I get plenty of air either way.

Some time back I removed my remote, to clean up my dash. Currently the TST is set at level 7, when I turn it on it hits like shot of NOs. Kind of fun once in a while. But like I said, a little leary about turning it on when I am already at high boost.

TST said:
The R45 remote has three digital L. E. D. (light emitting diodes) that show exhaust temperature(EGT), boost(TURBO BOOST) pressure,

and power level (if the POWERMAX ™ is switched on). A green fuel L. E. D. glows brighter as the POWERMAX ™ adds more fuel. If the

switch on the POWERMAX ™ main computer is “off”, the digital L. E. D. will be off (unlit). With key on and the main computer switched “on”,

the power level single digit L. E. D. indicates the power level setting with “0” being stock power and “9” being the highest power level. Use

the green up arrow switch to move up one level at a time or the green down arrow switch to move down one level per push of the switch,

the switch must be released between each level change. Levels “1” through “9” equally split the power increase. Power levels may be

changed with the engine off or running at any speed/load
.

I am not really sure this means turned off to turned on at level 7. I should probably call TST, they would know for sure what is meant by this. Too me it sounds like the TST can do it, but would it be advised for engine.

Standard PowerMax3 and remote (PM3)

PM3 with Boost EGT Remote. This one will defuel on high EGT even below stock levels. But the Smarty software disables the defuel below stock feature.

PM3 with Boost EGT and Trans Temp Remote

Allot of diesel performance vendors sell them. Likely the same new price from them all.

The PM3's work very well stacked with a Smarty, but so do the other performance boxes. Make sure you have upgraded your fuel supply system so that it can support the PM3. This is to take fully advantage of all the levels, because the TST can fuel pretty hard as soon as boost goes above 2 psi. With out fuel supply upgrades, TST levels above 6 will seem to flatten out. At least in my case it did.

And... .

As Dcreed said, you will likely need to upgrade your air supply (turbo) to control EGT's.
