Just got my TST box back from being reflashed to get rid of single ping/knock noise on deceleration,

reflash is apparently a whole new program on chip cause setting 8-8 dont have the kick my box used to have on 4-2 or 4-4 I miss the kick it used to have, I would be happy with a program somewhere in between the old program and this new reflashed program.

I will say EGTs are no longer an issue but that is a side effect of power and I dont have as much any more...

If anyone whom was concerned about buying a TST box cause they might break something... I dont think that is an issue any more... Not enough power on new box program

I spoke with Mark about this the other day. He assured me the HP and TQ numbers were the same. They just didn't come on as violent with the new program.

Not a chance!!!

I used to just smoke my duallies on 4-2 or 4-4

I ran 6-5 ONCE on old program and never again, brutal power 4-2 and 4-4 are awsome power.

Now with new program I dialed it up to 8-8 trying to get some kick like before, And well, it rumbled and smoked but nothing close to the power of before

If the box comes on aggressive then I could see how much easier one could spin the tires becauses it making power as soon as you push the soot pedal. If the power comes on softer and over a longer time period then it would get everything moving more gradualy making it harder to loose traction.

Well, I guess we will find out. I dynoed mine last weekend and have since sent mine back to be reflashed. I will be dynoing it again in October at the Fall Brawl. If the numbers are lower we will find out.

keep the reflash info updated as to what the difference is. My problem is that it seems to have a miss/backfire every once and a while. While under constant speed though, not on decel.

I need a new clutch though, can slip it on 2x2! ouch.

Mine did that too but very rare, but that is supposed to be taken care of as well.

I am going to try and Dyno my truck this week and see how much difference there is from before.

I ran setting 7-7 and 8-8 today and it scoots ok but 5-5 on old program was alot more powerful.

Well we will see what the Dyno says, maybe just feels different due to smoother delivery of power?

Well I just got back from The Reno BBQ Rib cook off and I am definetely FAT and HAPPY now

Towed my 10,000 lb 5er over the mountain for first time with new TST program and I have to say

For towing I have just as much pulling power throughout the rpm to do 75+ over mountain as the old program and since the power rolls on smoother I am not slippin clutch while towing, AND THE EGTs are WAY WAY WAY more controllable than with the old program!

But when not towing I still miss the head jerking power of old program

All in All I will keep the new program. :D

Well, whats the news. the brawl is over. I was not able to make it this year.

also, any more info on the updates?? I want my problem fixed, but dont want to loose the power of the first boxes. by the way, i have not called tst yet i have been waiting to see what is happening and if the problem can be fixed.

keep the updates coming, thanks

I actually did rather well. With a turbo and TST alone I did 212 HP over stock with the same dyno and same operator. I think the TQ was a little low, but that could be from the turbo needing a little more time to spool. The HP was definitely there though. :D The reflash seems to be OK and is a little more friendly on the turbo. I must admit I am thinking of sending the box back to get the old program though. It just felt so much better. :D

Lloyd,

I sent you an e-mail but I just saw this thread pop back up. What were your overall numbers and at what levels. More details man!

Richard

Power pup feels worse if you want my honest opinion. Like I said before. I have taken 2 other TDRers for rides and they even said it felt like it had less. Most likely the HP is there it is just missing the grunt of the TQ

I too like the old program better. I can defiantly get hight on the settings now. Before 5/5 and temps started to climb. Now 7/7 and I'm fine until the last shift into high. Mileage... please, my foots to the froor everytime I get in it. It's gone down.
