I just put a TST in my truck and it doesn't smoke at all. I thought with that much fueling it would. The Edge EZ I had smoked more than this. It has more power than the Edge (obviously), but where's the smoke?

What setting did you try?

highest so far is 5/3

It depends upon where you have the wastegate set. I have the WG on 30lbs and with the tst on 6/5 is where I start to get a nice cloud

i think level 3 on the torque is not enough to smoke, try level 6/6 or close to that, but dont bark it when let off... .

My problem is, I don't want to hit it hard with it turned up that high. Scared I'm going to twist something off. I don't want it to smoke bad enough that I will break something, but I just assumed that with it turned up higher than the Edge box it would.

Twins program TST, big single, DD3's, edge ez and airdog make it smoke worse than a 12v with a zero plate and 370's ;)

Stock truck, 5/5 automatic. I get big puffs on a hard acceleration or when she nails lockup in third and fourth.

TST 6/8 (or 7/7) & EZ on 1 make her smoke pretty good. I can get a good dark cloud then the turbo lights and it's all gone. When I want it to smoke really good I just pump up the TST to tq9 and give it a little wrap. I do this when I'm egging on a PS or DM.

I put it on 3/5 today on the way home and got into 6th gear, let the turbo spool up a little bit so I didn't overload it and then floored it. Nice big black cloud and then the clutch started slipping. Guess that's next huh? Turbo spools up to 30 psi w/ the stock wastegate, and that makes me a little nervous.

My clutch will slip at 3/3 under the right (wrong) conditions, mid-RPM, high torque. Don't worry about 30psi, I've seen 38 already with mine and haven't had it above 3/3 for hard acceleration. Played with 5/3 a couple times, but just short bursts, don't want to replace my clutch any sooner than I have to :D

Yea, I probably should mention my transmission's done and there's a turbo in it.

I didn't figure it was just a TST box, I figured there was something else behind it. I can slip the clutch in 3/4, and I know if I hammer it hard from no boost, I'm going to grenade my turbo.

What's the highest levels you can run with the 48re without slippage? I have been running around on 4/4, and have about 5000 miles on the new truck so far. Is 5/5 feasable? I want some smoke!

BTW, this TST setup came off my 03 and I installed it with no boost elbow (yet) on the 05. Supposedly, when you add the tst, it turns off the stock solenoid that controls boost... . so now I am hitting like 38psi of boost easily. Need to get that addressed!!

Hello gentleman.

I have an 05 3500 4X4 CTD w/ NV5600. I have a dealer installed exhaust brake and some aftermarket injectors in there now. I don't get any smoke with those. I've read that the TST is a really good investment.

I'd like to know the good, bad or ugly on the TST or similar upgrades.

80% of the time my truck is empty, 20% of the time I'm hauling 14K trailer.

You should search these boards, there is a HUGE wealth of knowledge. But as far as the TST goes, I love it so far. You see what kind of numbers you can put down with just the TST, and my poor clutch won't hold what it is capable of. I can't comment on the towing with it yet, as I haven't, but this weekend I'm going to and I'll get back to you on that. For a chip that you can build into, TST is the way to go. If you want simple, plug in, and don't want to upgrade later, go for the Edge EZ or something along those lines.

the new tst program doesnt smoke as much as the old program, the new one is very weak in the bottom, i run the tst twins program, ts ramifier stacked and piers twins, on 9x9 and 100 h. p. you cant see behind you at all, untill the boost hits around 60-65psi, the twins program blows smoke on 2x2 and really gets with it after that
