I had a BDDL for a while and decided Id go to the mighty TST for the added performance and the adjustability factor, but now I'm not sure if I made the right choice or not. The BDDL stacked with EZ would slip my clutch in 5th and 6th quite easily but my TST with twins program won't do it. Anything after 4/5 and it want to fall on it's face and egt's soar and the smoke rolls. I do understand that with the twins program that it's getting to much fuel for the amount air that the stock charger can produce. Even then there is no setting that will slip the clutch without "sliding" it into gear.

Also my CEL stays on and I've got the 607 code and the 2149 AND the 608 code! :(

What's going on?!?!? :{

Not sure I can completely help with whats going on, but I'm not sold on this twins program yet. Mine is the way it came from TST and I can slip the crap outta the clutch on 5/4. Possibly running out of fuel? Does it seem like bogs down when smoking? You probably need a bigger pusher pump and do you have the boost elbow or stock wastegate?

Sorry that I left out the fact that I have a Carter pusher pump and fuel pressure won't drop below 7psi with the pump. Also I have the stock elbow to reduce my chances of grenading my turbo.

MMeier, the reason that I have the twins version is because it is supposed to begin fueling soon and give more bottom end and I am planning to upgrade to a bigger turbo in the near future. I'm going to give TST a shout and see if I can get a single turbo version and see if it helps matters.

Wanna buy my TST single program? It's a CEL and code reproductive monster like yours!

Seriously, though, when I was running the TST single program my stock clutch would slip on 3x3 with VA on 100%.

you all need to remebr it isn't all about the SOTP feeling. Take it to a dyno somewhere and see how it is doing. I try to always get before and after numbers when I am switching stuff like that around

I think that slipping the clutch maybe how the power comes on, if it is smooth the clutch holds better than if it comes on abrupt.

as far as the codes have you moved your ground away from the battery to under the dash?

Not yet. Will that clear all codes? The one code 2149 is for a short in the injector harness and I don't know what the others are for.

2149 code should clear after you run your truck a couple of times. Did you step on it before the engine was all the way warmed up?

It's a used setup but I had TST swap out my old box with a newer program.

"Did you step on it before the engine was all the way warmed up?"

Not to my knowledge, I haven't. I talked to TST and they said. "Never heard of that before" then commenced to tell me what the code stood for and what it might be.

others and myself have done this with good success, it worth a try. I've been code free for sometime now, with and without the twins program.

the tst twins program milks the cp3 for all it is worth, you might have 7 psi of pressure but how much of that is making it into the cp3 , turn the tst down to 3-2, it will still blow smoke, get an ats manifold or port the stocker, and watch that little fella spool outa its mind, then port the waste gate hole to the size of the gate cover to get rid of some of that drive pressure, then install the tst elbow and run it at about 43 psi max, the first time i did this i cranked it up to 48 psi, then 1 month later pullin a trailer, the turbo took a trip to heaven and will never return, still have permanent blood stains stuck to the hood, at 43 psi ran hard for about 6 or 7 months with the new one before switching to twins

That’s a shame. We have discussed those same issues many times and someone always calls TST to get their take on it. There is nothing they have “never heard of. ” :-{} If I had a nickel for every time they told me that, I would be $5 richer. They also say they watch the forums and if their boxes had any real issues, they would know about it. Horse poop! For those that have a problem free TST, I envy you. I am sooooo ready for a competitive timing/duration module to hit the market.

I'vew gotten 2149 on two different occassions. Not sure if it's the Juice or the truck. It's so infrequent I could pull the chip for 2 mos. and not know anything more. I wonder if 2149 has more to do with the truck than the box.

Concerning Watching the Boards....

AK RAM,

They do watch the boards. I had my TST installed in Columbus, IN at TST and passed by Mark's office and he was on the forum. I commented to him that it looked familar. He just smiled.

I was being sarcastic. That is my point exactly…. they know everything, yet customers, myself included, are still getting the "never heard of that" line.

TST has put themselves into a situation where they are unable to provide adequate support for their product. I understand the issues that they are having with their programmer and you can't knock them for something that is out of their control, but their approach on dealing with customers as a result of these issues is just dead wrong.

We constantly get the "never heard of that" when we talk the same issues to death time and time again on the forums. Many users, more prominently the 03 and early 04 crowd, have inconsistent power and RPM surge or defueling around 2K with the current program. Again, issues that have been talked about many, many times on the forum, yet TST has "never heard of that. " I have talked to them personally about it, so has SRadke, so has Tommygun... . all with the same or very similar issues, yet right after SRadke gets a slightly custom tune to help combat the problem, I get the "never heard of that. " After one conversation with Mark on the problem (which wasn't the first mind you), he gave me the "never heard of that" line and actually let me go with a "good luck. " Product support anyone? At least Greg was helpful and would try his best to accommodate you, but now that he is gone, making that phone call without a 1-800 number is just darn hard to do until Danny gets up to speed. Mark just doesn’t seem to have it in him to deal with it any more. Product support for the engines that are no longer in production is nonexistent at this point. I had always thought highly of TST and gang, but I just hope it really is a programmer issue and not a sign of their motives/intentions for future support of our discontinued 03/04 engines.

Edge and VA are going to make some serious cash on the 03/04s if they can make it work and get in the 180 to 200hp range.
