First this is a excellent box. Have to start off with a that a boy. Bought new 1 year 11 months ago. Box fails and I send in to see what gives. They replace because they now have a 2 year warrenty now. Which I would say is now no longer covered because of my purchase date. When was this replacement bought and by who? I'm still happy. When it arrives back i open up a see they gave me a used box with a lower number than I had before. Am I wrong that I don't feel good about being replaced with a used box. I own a construction company and if your door failed 2 years later should I replace with a used door from my supply of saved doors? Maybe not apples but same out come. I have not called or emailed them because if they sent this one then this must be their policy for my replacement.

Had to vent.

I kinda see your point... But if you ever had to wait for your TST unit to be reflashed you would probably be happy to get the box back quicker. not sure if its the answer you wanted but I sent mine back to TST Next Day Air and asked for them to reflash and return Next Day Air and they returned it next day air alright..... A week later but I still love the TST box and at that time I would have been happy to get a reflashed box back in a timely manner regardless of the serial number

I bet the reason is because your box is no longer made - The new ones have more expensive circuit board that supports rail pressure stuff...
