Tstat Question TSB 07-08-98 Revised

In the TSB referenced below. Does anyone know what the difference is between the old thermostat and the new revised thermostat? Does it have a lower setpoint? Is it a full flow stat over a normal stat?

I have just recently changed to the new revised T stat and my truck runs much cooler. Used to run 195-200 all the time. Now runs around 165-180 or so.

Just wondering what the difference between the two are?

Thanks

07-08-98 All Diesel engine overheating.

This information applies to vehicles equipped with a 24 valve Cummins diesel engine with an engine serial number (ESN) 56512007 or prior. This bulletin involves replacing the thermostat with a revised part (05015090AA).

Somone has to know the answer now!

Okay I added some more info. I'm really curious what the difference between the two stats are?

Thanks

I am not sure what the difference is but the dealer replaced the one in my Dad's 01 and then flashed the computer for a temperature gauge low reading / fluctuation problem - He says all that work did nothing to it - he has the Cummins on board computer hooked to his - it reads the information from the engine and his temperature according the computer runs 180 deg while the dash shows 190 deg cruising empty down the highway.
