What is the difference with tst with timing, and tst w/o timing??? TST does not show on their website tst with timing... .

Ok Ok I found it on the tst web page... Do the old tst pmcr's have timing function? Can they be updated? What is the advantage to having timing ability??

I think all of the 3rd gen TST PMCRs can be upgraded to multiple programs, timing control options and Cool Down timer. Older models, serieal numbers before 5000 can not have the Rail Pressure option. You need to call with your serial number and ask what you can upgrade to and what it costs. There are different costs and wiring harness options needed.

It was well worth the upgrade cost to me.

All PMCRs have timing mids in them. Only recently has a program been released that allows the end user to adjust the timing gain. For most, this control is useless. The only people who will make much use of it are those stacking timing boxes (aka Smarty, BDDL, ect) and you want to tune the amount of timing you are getting total.

Like JVolpe said, it can be upgraded, but has to be sent in. SN 5000 and newer can get the adjustable rail pressure program as well.

Hey, I talked to tst when this came out about upgrading to the "User Control Timing Advance (UCTA)". On the model you bought it can be done- requires a r-49 remote, so you will have to send the unit and remote in for update. I'd call them to get a price, also its cheaper without the pyro probe ;) (don't forget to get the adjustable programs, standard, twins, early twins). As others said, works stacking with other boxes that have timing. If you give them the serial # they can look up options for your box. PM me and I'll give serial # if you want, or call, thanks, Nick.
